Our team has built and scaled payments and financial infrastructure at Uber, Coinbase, Stripe, Amazon, and Facebook—bringing deep experience across fintech, marketplaces, and global-scale systems. In January 2025, we raised an $8M seed round led by NEA, with participation from Lightspeed Faction, Coinbase Ventures, Paxos, Bitso, Solana Ventures, and others.

As one of our earliest legal hires, you’ll play a foundational role in shaping how we build, scale, and partner—helping define the legal and regulatory backbone of a cross-border payments platform from the ground up.

The Role

We’re hiring our first Legal team member to partner across Commercial, Engineering/Product, Compliance, and Operations as we build the legal and regulatory foundation for a regulated cross-border payments platform.

This is a high-ownership role for a pragmatic lawyer who can operate as both a hands-on executor and a strategic advisor while driving commercial transactions, advising on product and regulatory strategy, and helping design scalable legal infrastructure from the ground up.

This role will report to the General Counsel and work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to structure partnerships and other commercial relationships, collaborate on product development, and build internal playbooks to ensure legal rigor in a fast-moving environment.


What You’ll Do

Commercial

  • Lead drafting, negotiation, and execution of complex commercial agreements, including:

    • Bank and nonbank financial institution partnerships

    • Payment processors, liquidity providers, and infrastructure vendors

    • Strategic counterparties in cross-border corridors

    • Enterprise customer agreements

  • Develop contracting approach for global privacy and data protection requirements.

  • Partner with Compliance to align contractual obligations with regulatory requirements (BSA/AML, sanctions, licensing, data protection).

  • Develop scalable contract templates, fallback positions, and negotiation playbooks.

  • Advise on risk allocation, indemnification, liability caps, and insurance structures appropriate for a regulated fintech environment.

  • Support fundraising, investor diligence, and strategic transactions as needed.

Product and Regulatory

  • Advise cross‑functional teams on product design and structure involving payments, digital assets, custody, treasury, and emerging fintech offerings.

  • Review and advise on submissions and communications to regulators.

  • Support internal governance processes and board-level reporting for legal and regulatory matters.

Legal Infrastructure

  • Help design and implement scalable legal operations, including:

    • Contract lifecycle management processes

    • Approval workflows and risk review standards

    • Legal knowledge management and template libraries

  • Establish intake, triage, and prioritization processes across business teams.

  • Assist in identifying or building software to scale internal functions and processes.


What We're Looking For

Required

  • Active member in good standing of a U.S. State Bar.

  • At least 5 years of legal experience years of legal experience, with meaningful in-house experience at a fintech, payments, crypto, or regulated financial services company.

  • Significant experience negotiating complex commercial agreements in regulated environments.

  • Experience with cross-border payments, financial institution partnerships, and infrastructure-driven businesses.

  • Strong fluency in risk allocation, liability structuring, and regulatory-adjacent contracting.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently in high-growth, dynamic, fast-paced environments with incomplete information.

  • Strong client-service mindset and ability to counsel non‑lawyers in plain language.

  • Excellent judgment, pragmatism, and ownership mentality.

Preferred

  • Three years of legal experience at a top-tier law firm in fintech, financial services regulatory, or tech transactions practices.

  • Experience with:

    • Stablecoins, digital assets, or blockchain infrastructure.

    • MSB/MTL licensing, payments regulation, sanctions, or financial crime frameworks.

    • Supporting bank or other financial institution partnerships.

    • Non-US privacy and data protection regimes.

    • Building legal processes or being an early in-house Legal hire.

    • International expansion or multi-jurisdiction regulatory frameworks.

    • Privacy and data protection experience including with UK and EU GDPR

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $180,000 – $240,000, commensurate with experience.
