Major League Baseball (MLB) is seeking an experienced Counsel with a focus in corporate governance, mergers & acquisitions, investment funds and corporate finance.

Responsibilities

  • Provides contract negotiation and drafting functions and general corporate legal advice
  • Reviews, processes, and evaluates agreements and other documentation pertaining to Major League Club and Minor League Club sales, leases, loans, sports betting agreements, and concession arrangements to ensure compliance with Baseball policies and rules
  • Assists with general corporate governance matters with respect to Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball
  • Counsels MLB personnel and Clubs regarding the interpretation and applicability of baseball rules and policies and applicable law
  • Performs related duties as required

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelors and J.D. degrees
  • Excellent academic record
  • Member of the Bar of the State of New York
  • 2-4 years of experience in corporate law with strong preference for the following disciplines: investment funds, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, creative thinking, leadership, and judgment skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Baseball industry experience is not required but baseball knowledge is a plus

Salary Range: $180,000 - $200,000 (Base Salary) + Bonus

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB considers relevant to the hiring decision.
