About the role

Gamma is used by millions of people every day to create, teach, and persuade. But our brand is just getting started. As Creative Director, you'll build and lead Gamma's creative function while staying deeply hands-on as a designer yourself.

Your mandate is to take Gamma's brand from beloved prosumer tool to a platform trusted by Fortune 100 companies and solo creators alike. With 80% of our users outside the United States, you'll own how Gamma translates across cultures, languages, and business contexts, ensuring the brand resonates everywhere without losing its personality. You'll manage and grow a distributed design team, collaborate closely with a creative team of marketers, and bring cohesion and quality standards across time zones and disciplines.

Our team has a strong in-office culture and works in person 4–5 days per week in San Francisco. We love working together to stay creative and connected, with flexibility to work from home when focus matters most.

What you'll do
  • Design. Every day. Own creative output for Gamma's highest-visibility moments, from product launches and brand campaigns to enterprise sales materials — set the quality bar by producing the work, not just approving it

  • Manage and elevate a distributed design team while collaborating with marketers on campaigns and brand initiatives. Hire new designers as the team grows

  • Drive AI-first creative production by building repeatable workflows for ideation, asset production, and iteration across your team

  • Own Gamma's brand identity and visual systems across every surface: marketing, social, events, and sales collateral to scale the brand from prosumer delight to B2B credibility

  • Develop creative strategies that serve Gamma's full audience spectrum, from individual creators to Fortune 100 decision-makers, adapting tone and visual approach while keeping the brand cohesive

  • Build frameworks that let regional teams produce on-brand work at speed, and lead localized creative for key markets across AMER, LATAM, EMEA, and APAC

What you'll bring
  • 8+ years of creative experience at an agency or in-house brand-forward company, with a portfolio showing hands-on design craft and strategic brand thinking

  • Active, daily fluency with AI creative tools and a clear point of view on how they transform creative production

  • Experience managing distributed creative teams and collaborating cross-functionally with marketers, PMs, and product designers

  • Proven ability to hire and develop creative talent — you know what great looks like and can attract designers who raise the bar

  • Experience building brand creative across segments, from self-serve and SMB to enterprise, with an understanding of how tone and visual language flex for different buyers

  • A global perspective on design, with experience building localized creative programs or working with international audiences

Compensation range:

The base salary for this full-time position, which spans multiple internal levels depending on qualifications, ranges between $250K - $300K plus benefits & equity.

Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including but not limited to experience and expertise in the requirements listed above.

If you're interested in this role but you don't meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply anyway! We're always excited about meeting great people.

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
