About You


Chess.com is home to hundreds of events per year with total viewership well into the millions of fans; We’re looking for an operational and creative Creative Marketing Specialist to be the driving force behind our evergreen and campaign-based assets. This role is crucial for ensuring our brand presentation resonates deeply the players most deeply engaged with Chess and Chess.com. The specialist will focus heavily on optimizing video and broadcast content with product marketing notes, working as connective tissue between our Broadcast, Marketing, and Business Development teams, and increasing product integration visibility across platforms like Twitch and YouTube.


What you'll do

  • Broadcast Integration: Operationalize the integration of product marketing notes and messaging into live broadcast, video content, and the content that we produced with third parties. 
  • Run of Show: Manage the Marketing Run of Show elements,develop compelling Breaktime Content schedules alongside the other content arms of Chess.com.
  • Marketing Lead in Broadcast: Act as the marketing lead within broadcast rooms, empowered to ensure product marketing objectives are met and given a solid footing within content.
  • Video Approvals: Serve as a key approver within the marketing sphere for video content, ensuring alignment with brand standards and marketing goals.
  • Asset Creation & Execution: Responsible for the ideation and execution of our product integration and campaign-based visuals aimed at engaged users.
  • Asset Upkeep: Maintain, refresh, and update all evergreen marketing assets to ensure they remain current and compelling for our audience.Visual Strategy: Partner with the marketing leadership on overall voice considerations and visual strategy to define how we resonate with lower-funnel, higher-engagement members.
  • Reporting: Accountable for reporting on the performance and effectiveness of our first-party marketing efforts, as well as collaborations with other partners.
  • Operational Partnership: Collaborate with Marketing and Video Operations to prioritize product marketing tasks and initiatives.

Preferred Skills

  • 2-4 Years Experience in the Marketing Operations, Digital Media, Broadcast Operations, Marketing Production or similar field, with a proven track record of effective content development. 
  • 1-3 Years Experience in creation of digital content, a plus if within the partnership, business development, or sponsorship lanes. 
  • Strong understanding of the different groups that make up the Chess community, how those different groups fit together, and how Chess.com interacts with them. 
  • Exceptional Copywriting abilities, with the ability to engage alongside a brand voice (and your own!).
  • Exceptional operational and organizational skills with a keen eye for visual execution and brand consistency.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage relationships with creative leaders, marketing operations, and production teams.
  • Accountable and results-driven, with a focus on executing project objectives.
