About Gridsight

Electricity grids are undergoing the most significant transformation in a century. The shift to renewables, the proliferation of rooftop solar, batteries, and EVs, and the increasing complexity of distribution networks are forcing utilities to operate their grids in fundamentally new ways. Gridsight is the analytics platform that makes this possible.

Gridsight is a rapidly growing GridTech startup dedicated to accelerating global electrification and decarbonization. We are an AI-powered vertical SaaS platform that enables electric utilities to modernize grid operations, accelerate interconnection, and unlock dynamic grid capacity. The opportunity is enormous.

Gridsight was founded in Australia five years ago. Since then, we've established a strong product–market fit and emerged as the category leader. We are now scaling rapidly across the US with multiple Top 20 utilities, propelled by our recent Series B fundraise, and we're on the path to build a truly generational utility software company.

We are a team of builders. What unites us is that we’re curious, hungry and obsessed with maximizing the impact we can deliver to Gridsight and the energy transition. If that sounds like you, come join us!

The Role

As a Forward Deployed Data Analyst, you'll turn our utility customers' data into actionable insights about their networks. You'll build dashboards and visualizations that help customers see and understand their grid and deliver bespoke analysis that answers questions they can't yet answer themselves.

You'll work hand-in-hand with our Forward Deployed Power Engineers, who bring deep subject matter expertise, and Engagement Managers, who lead overall customer delivery. You’ll also partner with our Customer Data Engineers to make sure the data you need is available, well-structured, and reliable, and with Product to translate recurring analyses into platform features when we see enough demand across the market.

We're prioritizing analysts with a power engineering foundation who can hold their own in working sessions with utility planners and engineering managers. While an electrical background is strongly preferred, it’s not required. If you're an exceptional analyst who learns fast and wants to go deep on the grid, we still want to hear from you.

Gridsight runs an AI-forward stack that gives the team access to best-in-class tooling across data infrastructure, orchestration, and AI-assisted development, including Databricks, dbt, Dagster, AWS, and enterprise Claude Code. Staying ahead of the curve is part of the job.

This is a great role for someone who loves working with data, enjoys being close to customers, and wants to see their analysis evolve from a one-off deliverable into a product used across the industry.

Key Responsibilities

Analytics & Visualization (~55%)

  • Build dashboards and visualizations for customers, making complex grid data clear and actionable.
  • Run and support power systems analyses, such as power flow, hosting capacity and constraint studies, under the direction of a Forward Deployed Power Engineer.
  • Translate customer business questions into analytical tasks, and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Deliver ad hoc and bespoke analysis to answer questions and surface insights that aren't yet available through the product.

Customer Delivery Support (~25%)

  • Work alongside Forward Deployed Power Engineers and Engagement Managers to support end-to-end customer engagements, including time onsite with utility planning and engineering teams.
  • Partner with Customer Data Engineers to ensure the data required for analytics is available, reliable, and fit for purpose.

Product Support (~20%)

  • Identify and communicate patterns across customer engagements to inform product direction.
  • Partner with Product to translate bespoke analyses into repeatable, platform-ready features where there's enough demand and signal from customers across the market.
  • Learn our newest power flow and grid modeling tooling quickly, and use it to deliver more for customers in less time.
  • Contribute to internal documentation, playbooks, and tooling that improve the efficiency and consistency of future analytics and delivery work.
  • Bring a tool-first mindset: spot manual steps that can be automated, and take initiative to improve them.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or a related field is strongly preferred. Exceptional candidates from data, software or other quantitative backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
  • 2 to 4+ years of professional experience in data analytics, data engineering, technical consulting, power systems, electrical engineering, or a similar role combining hands-on data work with stakeholder engagement.
  • Working knowledge of distribution grid concepts such as power flow modeling, hosting capacity, DER integration, new load/generation interconnection, and demand forecasting (or the ability to learn them fast).
  • Strong SQL skills and demonstrated ability to analyse, validate, and wrangle complex or messy datasets.
  • Experience building dashboards and data visualizations.
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis, transformation, and scripting.
  • Ability to communicate data-driven findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with cloud data infrastructure and modern development practices (Git, command-line environments, collaborative codebases).
  • Exposure to dbt or similar ELT/ETL frameworks.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities, a methodical approach to troubleshooting, and a self-starter mentality, comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites, including multi-day onsites.
What We Offer
  • Rapidly scaling venture-backed company on the ground floor.
  • Highly competitive salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits package.
  • A mission that matters in an industry going through its biggest transformation in a century.
  • A team worth working with — big hustle, low ego, great vibes — that's motivated by solving difficult, meaningful problems.
  • Hybrid work environment from our offices in San Francisco, CA and Austin, Texas, plus annual retreats to the Australian mothership.
