The Defense Sector at Leidos has an opportunity for a Cyber Systems Engineer. As a Cyber Systems Engineer, you will architect, engineer, and enhance advanced cyber capabilities across a large-scale enterprise environment. This role focuses on discovering and managing cyber vulnerabilities, strengthening endpoint defenses, and integrating security technologies into complex DoW infrastructures.

This position supports the DoW ABIS system, is based in Clarksburg, WV, and requires on-site access as needed. It is a high-impact engineering role responsible for advancing endpoint security posture, optimizing cyber tool performance, and conducting vulnerability management.

Although this role is 75% remote, candidates located in the Clarksburg WV area are strongly preferred. There will be up to 25% travel to the customer site in Clarksburg WV that will be required.

Responsibilities Include:  

  • Oversee advanced cybersecurity protocols, risk management, and ensure DoW-aligned compliance standards. 
  • Monitor system and network security to detect, analyze, and respond to potential threats or anomalous activity. Investigate and respond to cybersecurity incidents, including system or network breaches and malware attacks, and support digital forensic investigations as needed. 
  • Conduct routine vulnerability scans, provide formal and informal reports to technical teams, and track remediation efforts to closure. 
  • Research and evaluate emerging cybersecurity threats and mitigation strategies; proactively identify security weaknesses and vulnerabilities; and audit systems to ensure secure configurations. 
  • Audit systems configuration to ensure compliance with established cybersecurity policies, STIG’s, standards, and secure configuration baselines. 
  • Participate in data analysis and root cause analysis following service-impacting incidents and providing recommendation for corrective actions and security improvements. Collaborate with technical teams, developers, and customer leadership to strengthen the overall security posture of the supported systems. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology/Cybersecurity or similar field with 2 or more years of experience in cybersecurity and vulnerability management
  • DoD 8140/8570-compliant certification or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months from start date.
  • Must be able to pass DOJ background to access the FBI Campus - CJIS Site, in Clarksburg, WV.
  • Active DoW Secret Clearance or ability to obtain a DoW Interum Secret security clearance within 120 days from start date.

Required Technical Skills

  • Expertise designing and engineering enterprise endpoint security solutions.
  • Experience using DoW vulnerability management tools (ACAS, Security Center, Nessus, ETC).
  • Experience performing log analysis using logging tools such as Splunk.
  • Advanced understanding of cyber threats, mitigation strategies, and endpoint security best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies, compliance frameworks, and enterprise security standards.
  • Understanding of DoW Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and automation tools.
  • Strong understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems and patching processes.
  • Familiarity with Agile development tools such as Jira, Confluence, ETC to manage work and collaborate with team members.

Desired Skills

  • Active DoW Secret security clearance.
  • Experience with network-based security tools, preference for Palo Alto.
  • Understanding of AWS Cloud Architecture, with an emphasis on cloud security.
  • Experience with eMASS and ATO process for DoW systems.
  • Knowledge of Risk Management Framework and NIST 800-53 rev 4/5 security control compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to speak directly to customer regarding security related concerns.

Pay Range:Pay Range $69,550.00 - $125,725.00
