Reconstruct 3D power grid networks using LiDAR point clouds, GIS maps, and drone imagery. Place and align infrastructure objects, synchronize 2D maps with 3D models, and annotate aerial images to identify grid components and structural defects. The role requires strong spatial reasoning, attention to detail, English communication skills, and suitable computer hardware. Prior LiDAR or power-grid knowledge is advantageous. This is a fully remote, full-time position.

Do you enjoy precise, detail-oriented work and have an eye for spatial accuracy? This role puts those skills to use on a project at the intersection of geospatial data and AI.

As a Data Annotator on our project, you will support building digital 3D models of power grids and other critical infrastructure. These models help energy companies analyze network conditions, predict risks, and plan maintenance using AI and physics-based simulations.

You will help reconstruct electrical distribution networks in 3D by combining LiDAR point cloud data, GIS maps, and drone imagery – contributing directly to the accuracy and reliability of these digital twins.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Reconstructing 3D power grid networks using point cloud (LiDAR) and map (GIS) data;
  • Placing 3D objects (poles, lines, conductors) to match real-world physical layouts;
  • Aligning original 2D map data with 3D models;
  • Labeling high-resolution drone photos to identify grid components and detect structural defects (e.g., equipment damage or wear).

Requirements:

  • Background in GIS, Geodesy, Cartography, Land Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field;
  • Strong spatial reasoning and the ability to easily navigate 3D environments;
  • English B2 (ability to read instructions, watch training videos, and communicate effectively);
  • High attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn from feedback;
  • PC/laptop with an Intel i7-11800H (or equivalent/better CPU), dedicated GPU (NVIDIA T1200 or better; RTX 4060 recommended), and 16 GB RAM minimum (32 GB preferred).

Will be a plus:

  • Any basic understanding of power grids (poles, transformers, wires) or prior experience with LiDAR data.

What we offer:

  • Full-time schedule (9 hours/day, including a 1-hour lunch break);
  • Standart business hours 09:00/10:00 – 18:00/19:00 EEST;
  • Fully remote work;
  • Supportive management with no bureaucracy;
  • Competitive compensation in USD;
  • Opportunities for long-term professional growth.

Who are we?

Data is the most vital resource for next-generation spatial engineering and AI applications.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
