ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for a curious, enthusiastic person to join our Data Science and Machine Learning Engineering teams as a Data Curation Specialist. In this role, you will be working day to day with Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Adversarial Researchers, Product Managers, and Sales Engineers, to help source, create, label, and record new data for our ML and AI systems.

Our work is primarily focused on security models that protect AI systems from external threats, like direct and indirect prompt injections. To do this, we need high-quality, richly labeled benign and malicious data, which is hard to source. Most of our data is created in-house, and the data we source externally is heavily vetted and labeled internally. We need to rapidly respond to new customer scenarios by producing specialized data to match their use cases, which teaches our models to tell the difference between malicious intent and day-to-day traffic.

Because the world of AI is rapidly changing and expanding, we need to be very nimble and creative, finding out what the problem of the week is, sourcing and labeling data, and seeing how it affects model outcomes. In this role, you will work directly with researchers to learn what data they need, with customer-facing reps to hear what issues our customers are having, and what data might be useful to improve those areas. And then on to the next!

WHO YOU ARE:

• Day-to-Day Scripting in Python (though not formal software engineering)
• Basic functions of git for sharing code
• Day-to-Day SQL: Enough to write common queries for pulling data from our databases
• Cursory understanding of common text encodings and formats; enough to routinely use many different types of text-based data (ASCII, UTF-8, Markdown, JSON, etc.)
• Savvy with Google Sheets for keeping detailed records of large quantities of data
• Ability to make good, useful visualizations of data for day-to-day internal use.
