About the job

Olé Mexican Foods is one of the largest tortilla manufacturers in America, with products sold coast to coast. Our Business Intelligence team supports data-driven decision-making across all departments, from production and operations to sales and distribution.

We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineering Consultant who can own the data infrastructure that powers our analytics environment. You’ll build and maintain ETL pipelines, develop and optimize our SQL Server data warehouse, design Fabric lakehouse ingestion workflows, and establish CI/CD practices for our data assets, all while working remotely with our USA-based team. The ideal candidate is self-sufficient, understands how data flows from source to consumption, and can navigate a complex data environment with minimal guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using SSIS and Microsoft Fabric
  • Build and maintain data warehouse staging, transformation, and loading processes in SQL Server
  • Design and implement data ingestion workflows from multiple source systems into SQL Server and Fabric lakehouses
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies
  • Design and maintain star schemas, dimensional models, and data warehouse architecture
  • Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot data issues, and implement error handling and logging
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment of data assets
  • Manage version control for data pipelines, SQL objects, and BI assets using GitHub
  • Document data flows, transformation logic, pipeline architecture, and business rules thoroughly
  • Gather requirements from stakeholders and translate them into data engineering solutions
  • Collaborate with the BI team to ensure data models support downstream reporting needs

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering or data warehouse development
  • Strong SQL Server skills (complex queries, stored procedures, performance tuning, indexing)
  • Hands-on ETL/ELT pipeline development experience with SSIS
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric (lakehouses, data pipelines, analytics workloads)
  • Solid understanding of data warehouse architecture, star schemas, and dimensional modeling
  • Experience with Git/GitHub for version control
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and deployment automation
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Spanish
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred qualifications

  • Microsoft DP-600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer) or DP-203 (Data Engineer) certification
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for data engineering or BI workflows (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
  • Experience leveraging AI tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT) to accelerate development and analysis
  • Power BI experience (report development, DAX, Power Query, semantic models)
  • Experience in manufacturing, production, or retail environments
  • Background in operations or supply chain data
  • Knowledge of data governance and security best practices
