Mindex is looking for a Data Engineer with strong SQL and data analysis instincts to join a growing data platform team. In this role, you'll build and maintain data pipelines, models, and transformations in Snowflake using DBT and turn raw, messy source data into reliable, analysis-ready datasets.

The single most important skill for this role is data analysis ability: the capacity to dig into unfamiliar source systems, understand what the data means, surface data quality issues, and make well-reasoned decisions about how to model and use it. Strong communication skills are equally important. You'll need to document your findings and decisions clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Compensation

$90,000 - $140,000

What You'll Accomplish
  • Build and maintain DBT models (Core), including models, tests, macros, and lineage documentation
  • Design and optimize Snowflake objects, dynamic tables, views, and schemas, for performance and clarity
  • Develop and support data ingestion pipelines using tools such as Informatica, Fivetran, or Openflow
  • Profile and analyze source data from complex, multi-domain systems (HRIS, payroll, client platforms) to surface quality issues and inform modeling decisions
  • Write advanced SQL to investigate data, validate transformations, and answer ad hoc business questions
  • Collaborate with data architects to implement canonical data models and ensure consistency across domains
  • Document data quality findings, transformation logic, and modeling decisions in a clear and defensible way

Requirements
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with advanced SQL
  • 2+ years of experience with DBT Core (models, tests, macros, sources, lineage)
  • 2+ years of experience with Snowflake (dynamic tables, views, performance tuning, schema design)
  • Experience with data ingestion/replication tooling such as Informatica, Fivetran, or Openflow
  • Demonstrated ability to profile and analyze source data from complex or poorly documented systems
  • Proficiency in Python for data processing and pipeline support
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
