As a data engineer for Jellyfish Research, you will support our team’s mission to deliver product innovation, cutting-edge research, and analytics and insights to the rest of Jellyfish. You'll build systems to ingest, transform, aggregate multi-modal data at scale, while providing data tooling for technical users across R&D.

Most importantly, you will be part of a highly talented team working in a fun, challenging, and collaborative environment, building a fast-growing business led by experienced entrepreneurs and backed by top-tier investment partners.

Let's talk about what you'll do:

  • Design, build, and maintain platforms and pipelines for analytics and data science

  • Collaborate with data scientists to understand needs and design solutions to acquire and aggregate data at scale to empower data scientists, product managers, designers, engineering leaders, customer success, go-to-market leaders, and other stakeholders across the organization to derive actionable insights

  • Develop tools to monitor data platform health and performance

  • Engage with stakeholders outside Jellyfish Research to understand and prioritize needs and requirements for self-service analytics

  • Enable the adoption of AI technologies to advance our technical infrastructure

  • Collaborate on data flows for new, innovative feature prototypes

Let’s talk about what you need to excel:

  • You have a strong interest in data platforms for data science, product, and business analytics use cases

  • Proven experience in data engineering, database administration, data pipeline architecture and development, or building data platforms

  • You have experience building scalable, cloud-based solutions for data aggregation and reporting

  • You have advanced SQL knowledge and experience with multiple database solutions

  • You are a strong programmer

  • You are passionate about leveraging AI technologies to enhance our internal capabilities and help stakeholders create innovative products

  • You love learning new things and teaching others what you know

  • You have strong communication skills and enjoy working as part of a cross-functional team

Bonus points if you have experience with:

  • Standard Python libraries for data science (e.g. pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow)

  • Our engineering technology stack (Python 3, Django, Postgres, Docker, AWS)

  • Commercial generative AI technologies (LLM APIs, MCP)

A list of job experiences and qualification requirements is great, but humility, a performance-driven attitude, and a team-player approach are most important to us. We love to have fun and win in the process. We only hire people who have a passion for building great companies in an environment where a sense of humor is a must.

Occasional travel may be required.

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the US. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.

Let’s talk about us!

This is all about you, but you want to know a little about us. Jellyfish was started in 2017 as a team of three with one big idea: engineering is the core of modern business, so let’s create and manage it that way!  With the help of our customers, we have built the first Engineering Management Platform, providing visibility into engineering organizations, their work, and how they operate. We enable leaders to align engineering decisions with business initiatives and deliver the right software efficiently and on time.
