Job Summary & Responsibilities

Your Expedition (Position Overview)

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our data team in building robust and scalable data pipelines that power analytics and business decisions in the fast-paced travel industry. You will work with large datasets from booking systems, customer touchpoints, pricing engines, and third-party APIs to create a unified data environment that supports personalization, demand forecasting, route optimization, and customer experience enhancements. 

 

This is a remote position.

 

Going the Extra Mile (Responsibilities)

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for ingesting data from internal and external travel-related sources (e.g., GDSs, OTAs, CRM systems).
  • Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and product teams to understand data needs and deliver high-quality, reliable datasets.
  • Integrate data from various platforms including booking engines, mobile apps, customer service systems, and web analytics tools.
  • Develop and optimize data models and schemas in cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
  • Implement data quality checks and monitoring to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data.
  • Support real-time data streaming for dynamic pricing, inventory updates, and customer interactions.
  • Ensure data privacy, governance, and compliance with regulations like GDPR and CCPA.

 

Your Passport to Success (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering or backend data development and integration.
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Java, Scala).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern data stacks (Airflow, dbt, Kafka, IDMC, etc.).
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and tools.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the travel or hospitality industry.
  • Familiarity with travel data formats and systems (e.g., PNRs, GDS, IATA standards).
  • Exposure to predictive analytics, personalization, or recommender systems.
  • Understanding of API integrations with travel platforms and third-party services.
