About the Role:
Robust AI is a fast-growing, early-stage startup founded in 2019 by an unsurpassed team of veterans in robotics, AI, and business. We are a collaborative group with a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives, seeking talented individuals who are just as excited about robotics and AI as we are! Help us redefine the very foundation of robotics and build robots that are smart, collaborative, robust, safe, flexible, and genuinely autonomous.

We are looking for a data science intern to help us unlock insights from our growing fleet of collaborative mobile robots. As our robots operate across various customer sites, they generate massive amounts of telemetry data, transactional data, and event logs.

Your mission is to turn this raw data into clear, actionable visualizations that help our Product, Engineering, and Customer Success teams understand how our robots are performing in the real world. You will bridge the gap between "What the robot did" and "How the customer experienced it."

What You’ll Do
  • Visualize the Fleet: Design and build automated reports/dashboards (using tools like Python or R) to track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and issues.

  • Pattern Recognition: Mine robot logs to identify recurring "edge cases"—why do robots in Site A struggle with docking more than robots in Site B?

  • Usage Analysis: Analyze how customers are actually using our features (e.g., fleet energy management, queuing) to inform future product roadmaps.

  • Failure Analysis: Work with the Validation team to categorize and visualize safety-related events and hardware failures to improve fleet reliability.

  • Data Pipeline Support: Assist in refining our data ingestion process to ensure the most critical "robot truths" are captured and reported accurately.

  • Customer Decision Mapping: Design and generate visualizations that translate robot telemetry into business-critical insights (such as Throughput Consistency and Fleet Uptime) to help customers make data-driven decisions on facility staffing and operational scaling.

Who You Are
  • The Profile: Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Robotics, Systems Engineering, or a related field.

  • Data Fluent: Proficient in Python (Pandas, NumPy), R, or another data-analysis framework. Experience with data visualization tools is a must.

  • Robotics Curious: You aren't just a "software person." You find it exciting to see how a line of code translates into a robot moving across a warehouse floor.

  • Communicator: You can take a complex technical failure and explain its impact on the customer experience to a non-technical audience.

  • Bonus Points if you have experience with ROS and rosbag analysis.

Why This Internship?

Unlike a typical data role, your work will have a direct physical impact. You won't just be moving numbers on a screen; you’ll be helping us optimize a fleet of machines that are changing how the world’s supply chains operate.

Robust AI fosters a culture of belonging and a shared commitment to equality and equity.

Having a diverse set of perspectives is key to ensuring AI and robotics serve the needs of all.
