The Data Operations Lead oversees the data operations lifecycle, ensuring data quality and reliability, managing teams, and communicating operational status to leadership.
The summary above was generated by AI

At Augmodo, we build computer vision and spatial AI products that help retailers understand exactly what is happening within their physical stores. Our systems depend on high-quality, reliable, real-world data; our Data Operations team is the backbone that makes this possible.

The Role

As the Data Operations Leader, you will own the end-to-end data operations lifecycle—from process definition through execution, quality control, and continuous improvement. You will ensure that the data powering our products is accurate, efficient to produce, and operationally reliable at scale.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will act as the operational bridge between local data collection, labeling teams, and product/engineering. You will be responsible for translating real-world constraints into scalable systems and measurable outcomes. We are looking for a leader who has grown from personally annotating data for shipped computer vision models to leading a global data ops organization. This individual will manage a multi-faceted talent pool of distributed teams, leveraging 'in the trenches' experience to collect and annotate data at scale for globally generalizing models.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Communication & Leadership
  • Provide clear, concise, and continuous communication to executive leadership regarding operational status, progress, blockers, and future plans.

  • Establish clear ownership, standards, and accountability across data collection, labeling, and quality control (QC).

  • Maintain accountability for the accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of all data used across Augmodo’s products.

Quality Control & Multi-Loop Labeling
  • Own all data operations workflows end-to-end, managing both online and offline loops.

  • Online Loops: Oversee real-time Quality Control (QC) processes, standards, and metrics.

  • Offline Loops: Manage Data Annotation, Targeted Collections, and Accuracy Visits to ensure long-term model reliability.

  • Manage the full QC lifecycle, including audits, error analysis, feedback loops, and corrective actions.

  • Oversee operational resources and workflows to ensure consistent, high-quality output.

Data Validation & Internal Data Models
  • Execute and refine processes and data models used to validate internal datasets, including planograms, product catalogs, store images, and store-level metadata.

  • Partner closely with product and engineering to ensure validation logic aligns with production usage.

Field Data Validation
  • Lead field data validation initiatives, including coordinating real-world verification in physical stores.

  • Partner with leadership to design measurement systems and observability metrics that surface quality issues early

Tooling, Assets, and Pipelines
  • Own the asset management system and internal data pipelines.

  • Partner with engineering to identify tooling gaps, improve operational efficiency, and scale workflows.

  • Prioritize and shape tooling improvements based on real operational pain points.

Requirements:
  • 5 years experience leading data operations, data labeling, QA/QC, or similar operational workflows.

  • 3 years of management experience.

  • Strong operational mindset with the ability to design processes and execute them.

  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with product, engineering, and field teams.

  • Experience working with real-world, messy data (images, catalogs, physical environments).

  • You have personally annotated data for shipped computer vision models.

  • Bias toward ownership, accountability, and measurable outcomes.

  • Bachelor's Degree
