The Promotional Media Data Science and Engineering team is at the forefront of Netflix’s efforts to effectively promote titles and enhance the content discovery experience. Our team partners closely with Netflix's world-class creative teams to amplify and scale promotional strategies for our members. We are seeking an experienced leader in data science and analytics to lead a team of experts in Causal Inference, experimentation, analytics, and optimization. In this rare opportunity, you will solve novel problems that will shape the future of promotion and discovery at Netflix

Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end causal inference, experimentation, analytics, and overall measurement of promotional strategies.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to leverage insights generated from rigorous measurement frameworks to optimize promotion strategies and enhance member experience and value.

  • Lead, mentor and inspire a team of data scientists and analytics engineers to consistently deliver business impact

  • Learn and innovate closely with world-renowned creatives, blending science and creativity.

  • Cultivate strong relationships with cross-functional partners to provide strategic insights, drive influence, execute complex initiatives, and support long-term technical visions.

About you

  • Demonstrated success in designing and delivering data science and analytics projects within highly ambiguous and complex business environments, meeting scalability requirements.

  • High proficiency in Causal Inference and standard tech stack (Python, SQL)

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering or other relevant fields

  • 6+ years of hands-on data science and analytics experiences (3+ years with a Ph.D. in relevant fields) with 2+ year of experiences mentoring and leading data scientists 

  • Strong judgment and effective entrepreneurship in identifying and framing opportunities in greenfield areas

  • Tenacious and flexible and can effectively organize and lead cross-functional projects, overcome challenges, and propose new solutions

  • Passionate about the blend of art and science and excel at partnering with business and creative teams as much as you do with technical teams

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a wide variety of technical, business, and creative stakeholders

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $360,000 - $920,000.
Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs.  Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
