The Sandberg Goldberg Bernthal Family Foundation (SGBFF) works to build a more equal and resilient world. We bring people together to support each other through four initiatives: LeanIn.Org, LeanInGirls.Org, OptionB.Org, and the Dave Goldberg Scholarship Program.

Role Overview
 
We are looking for a Data Scientist who can transform data into meaningful, actionable insight. Someone who is rigorous in analysis, thoughtful in interpretation, and motivated by impact. In this role, you will help us understand our community experience, measure what works, and guide strategic decisions that shape our products, programs, and reach. Your work will directly influence how we serve millions of women and allies around the world.
 
What You’ll Do
 
Turn Data into Insight
- Identify trends and patterns in data to uncover opportunities for growth and improvement
- Translate complex findings into clear, practical recommendations that inform decisions
- Design and conduct analyses to understand user engagement, content effectiveness, and program impact
 
Drive Product and Program Impact
- Partner with product, marketing, and program teams to define meaningful metrics and measure success
- Develop experimentation frameworks and analyze A/B tests to optimize features and experiences
- Build predictive models and recommendation systems that personalize and strengthen user journeys
 
Build Strong Foundations
- Create dashboards and visualizations that make insights accessible to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Build and maintain reliable data pipelines (data engineering experience preferred) 
- Design and optimize data infrastructure and warehousing solutions
- Ensure data quality, governance, and consistency across systems
- Work across the full data stack - from raw data ingestion to reporting and storytelling
 
What You Will Bring
 
Required
- 3+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related field
- Strong proficiency in Python or R, SQL, and data visualization tools
- Experience with statistical analysis, machine learning, and experimental design
- Solid understanding of data engineering principles and data pipelines
- Familiarity with modern data tools (e.g., cloud data warehouses, ETL tools, BI platforms)
- Ability to communicate complex analyses in a clear, compelling wayStrong problem-solving skills and intellectual curiosity
- Excellent collaboration skills and experience working cross-functionally
- Deep commitment to Lean In’s mission to inspire and equip women to lead
 
Preferred
- Understanding or experience with user experience research 
- Experience in mission-driven or social impact organizations
- Genuine alignment with the broader initiatives of the Sandberg Bernthal Family Foundation, including building resilience and advancing equality

What We Will Offer You

  • Base Salary: $140,000 – $165,000 based on experience, skills, and qualifications
  • Performance Bonus: Up to 15% of base salary annually

  • Work Location: We believe in the power of in-person collaboration. This role is based in San Francisco, with a hybrid schedule of three days in office per week (currently Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday) and remote flexibility on other days, beginning September 2026.
