The role:
We're looking for an experienced freelance writer to create engaging, decodable texts for early readers. You'll be responsible for writing short, leveled stories that adhere strictly to our phonics scope and sequence. This is a per-assignment, remote position with flexible hours.
- Write original, decodable texts (short stories, poems, non-fiction) that align with a provided phonics scope and sequence.
- Ensure each text uses only the targeted phonics skills and previously taught sounds/spellings.
- Work closely with our editorial team to revise and refine texts based on feedback.
- Meet all project deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
Why you're a great fit:
- Proven paid writing experience, ideally for an educational publisher, children's content, or similar industry.
- A strong understanding of foundational reading skills, including phonics and phonemic awareness.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality, educationally sound content.
