The Principal PM will develop a strategy for Vapi's growth segment, enhance user experience, and lead a 12-month roadmap focusing on measurable success metrics.

Vapi (/ˈwɑːpi/):
  • We’re creating the shift to voice as humanity’s default interface.

  • We’re the most configurable platform for deploying voice agents.

  • We’re grown to 400,000 developers in 20 months, adding 2,000+ every day.

  • Try talking to Vapi now!

Why We’re Hiring This Role:
  • Enterprise revenue 5×’ed in a year. The bar’s moved up into the stratosphere: keep developers smiling, keep nothing breaking, and keep enterprise trust growing.

  • We need a Principal PM to look at our next growth segment, and say: “cool, here’s the plan, here’s what matters, here’s what we’re shipping, and here’s how we’ll know it worked.”

  • We need a product-whisperer to hang with our C-suite, and make Vapi noticeably better at product management.

What You’ll Do:
  • 30 Day:

    • Become unreasonably dangerous on the Vapi platform and business.

    • Figure out where real users get stuck, and where enterprise deals die in legal purgatory.

    • Write a “here’s the mess + here’s the opportunity” brief for your segment.

    • Turn Eng/Design/GTM into a well-oiled effective shipping machine.

  • 60 Day:

    • Turn your vision into a crisp strategy. Not a 157-page novel.

    • Ship 1 high-leverage improvement that visibly moves adoption, engagement or retention.

    • Own and execute on a 12-month rolling roadmap with measurable success.

    • Turn data into knowledge. As someone should totally have said: it’s ok to fail, it's not ok not to understand why.

  • 90 Day:

    • Deliver a step-function improvement in a core metric for your initial customer segment.

    • Make that segment feel boringly excellent: fewer fire drills, more compounding wins.

    • Raise the bar across Vapi by demonstrating clarity, speed, honesty, and customer empathy. Help turn Vapi into a customer-led product rich organization.

Who You Are:
  • You think that fast is better than slow, and know the difference between “move fast” and “set money on fire.”

  • You enjoy going repeatedly from user pain -> crisp spec -> shipped product -> slightly wrong -> mods -> roughly right.

  • You debate timing, not value, with unusually high competence and low ego.

  • You speak fluent API and fluent Enterprise.

  • You like hanging out regularly with Karl the Fog in our San Francisco office.

Why Vapi:
  • Generational impact: Build human interface for every business.

  • Ownership culture: 90% of company is previous founders.

  • Kind team: The founders Jordan and Nikhil are Canadians.

  • Tier-1 Investors: YC, KP seed, Bessemer series A.

What We Offer:
  • Real stake: We offer competitive salary and excellent equity ownership.

  • Comprehensive health coverage: medical, dental, and vision plans.

  • Team love: We love hanging out and doing quarterly offsites.

  • Flexible time off: take what you need. Just be professional about it.

  • More: catered meals and transportation, gym & coaching stipends!

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
