The Federal Civilian business unit supports many customers spanning the federal, commercial, and nonprofit space. Our customers include NASA, the General Services Administration, Office of Personnel Management, the Library of Congress, Health & Human Services, and the FDIC. We partner with these agencies to build new capabilities, deliver products, establish data as a strategic asset for informed decision-making, modernize legacy systems, and build the digital service infrastructure necessary to scale their mission impact.
Primary Responsibilities:
Designer III serves as an emerging individual contributor within a team, expanding your leadership, guidance and mentoring skills. With the support and guidance of leadership, you will be responsible for supporting the goal of meeting scope, schedule and delivery requirements. You will interact with stakeholders and utilize influential skills to drive improvements in design processes and practices. Primary expectations of a Designer III include:

Exhibits influential skills to build relationships with team members, government and company stakeholders, and program management team members

Responsible for both program tactical assignments, as well as strategic initiatives to meet delivery requirements

Ability to navigate ambiguous requirements and environments to support delivery

Delivers design work including discovery artifacts, sketches and rough prototypes, wireframes, UX flows, and high fidelity prototypes

Utilizes design skills including typography and hierarchy
-
Supports the development and communication of milestones; and delivers upon their area of expertise

Proactively partners with Senior Designers, and is receptive to mentorship

Leads the development of competitive analyses and reports results to stakeholders
-
Contributes to design libraries, providing visual design and brand artifacts

Collaborates with a multi-disciplined team to facilitate discussions and articulate goals in order to deliver upon requirements

Demonstrates the ability to coach and mentor designers, with a focus on providing actionable feedback that helps individuals grow within the design discipline

Development of storytelling skills to deliver compelling artifacts and presentations that distill highly complex issues into focused, understandable solutions
- Leads human centered design processes and deliverables in compliance with standards and regulations

May lead accessibility tasks inclusive of 508 compliance and have knowledge of other emerging accessibility standards

Ability to identify risks and communicate to leadership; provides recommendations to mitigate identified risks

May develop and manage content for highly visible websites or applications, abiding by design guidelines
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience
-
Relevant years of experience may be substituted for education
-
- Progressive experience with design principles and relevant technologies, understands roles with which they interact and how their work impacts business goals
- Experience with design software such as Figma, Miro, Adobe or other designer tools

Policy and guidance support for Section 508/WCAG compliance
-
Design test cases/plans
-
SME on Accessibility tools/techniques

In support of various state and city equal pay transparency laws, Ad Hoc job descriptions feature the starting range we reasonably expect to pay to candidates who would join our team with little to no need for training on the responsibilities we've outlined above. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and responsibility.
