About the Role

As a Developer Relations Engineer, you'll focus on creating tangible business value by helping developers solve real-world problems and build better software. This isn't just about content creation – it's about building authentic relationships with the developer community through practical, hands-on experience with our products, both open-source and enterprise-focused.


Core Responsibilities

These are where we expect you to spend the bulk of your time.

  • Maintain our position as a leading voice in AI education on our social channels

  • Build real-world use-cases that demonstrate the value of LlamaIndex

  • Create technical content including documentation, tutorials, and workshop materials

  • Identify and advocate for product improvements based on first-hand experience and community feedback

  • Interact directly with our developer community through our Discord, social, and customer channels as well as in-person events

  • Represent LlamaIndex at conferences, local meetups, events, etc.

Secondary Responsibilities
  • Represent our company at technical conferences, delivering talks and engaging with developers in meaningful technical discussions

  • Contribute to product testing and provide feedback on new features and SDKs from a developer's perspective

  • Contribute directly to our open-source frameworks with bug fixes and new features

Impact Areas

Your work will directly contribute to:

  • Accelerating adoption of the LlamaIndex framework in the AI developer community

  • Reducing customer churn by improving product experience and documentation

  • Increasing conversion to paid features through authentic demonstration of value

  • Building and maintaining trust within the developer community

Required Qualifications
  • 4+ years of software development experience

  • 2+ years in a developer relations/developer advocate/similar role

  • Excellent technical communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Experience building and deploying real-world applications

  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and engagingly

  • Track record of contributing to developer communities or open source projects

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with technical content creation (articles, tutorials, videos)

  • Public speaking experience at technical conferences or meetups

  • Background in developer tooling, infrastructure, or platform development

  • Experience with SEO optimization and technical content strategy

  • Understanding of developer marketing and community building

Location

Because we expect this role to regularly attend in-person events, we are prioritizing San Francisco and New York as locations for candidates, but we will consider other remote locations for exceptional candidates as long as they are within 3 timezones of our SF HQ.
