Berkeley Law School, and one of the Bay Area’s largest and most effective systems disrupters. With a dual service and teaching mission, EBCLC is a racial justice organization committed to building a culturally diverse workplace, centered on equity. With about 50 staff, 120 law students a year, and a nearly $7.5 million annual budget, EBCLC is the largest provider of free legal services in Alameda County, providing multimodal, collaborative, and holistic legal services to over 4,000 clients annually and engaging in legislative and policy advocacy at the state and local level.

The position requires an extremely organized individual with attention to detail, excellent judgment and discretion, strong writing skills, a flexible and proactive attitude, and a strong commitment to EBCLC’s racial justice mission.

As a member of a high-performing and collaborative Development, Communications, and Data (DCD) team, this position will play a key role in growing EBCLC’s fundraising efforts. The Development Project Manager reports to the Co-Deputy Director and will support activities across the DCD team in three key areas:

Individual Giving

  • Manage EBCLC’s two seasonal fundraising drives with the support of Co-Deputy Director; including creating donor solicitation lists based on individual giving history, identifying campaign theme and drafting solicitation emails, and supporting board and staff in solicitation.
  • Manage EBCLC’s donor Customer Relationship Management program (DonorPerfect) and ensure timely recording and acknowledgments of gifts from individual donors.
  • Maintain a donor acknowledgement system to manage and record communications and donor touchpoints, with the goal of ensuring all donors are incentivized to make an annual contribution to EBCLC.
  • Support fundraising and community events with a focus on the board, donor, and alumni engagement and experience.
  • Work closely with the Finance Department to ensure smooth and accurate gift processing, including month-end reconciliation.

Communications

  • Manage social media platforms and create social media posts to amplify EBCLC’s work.
  • Make regular and timely updates to ensure EBCLC’s website content is compelling and engaging.
  • Support the design, content, and production of external-facing communications, including quarterly alumni newsletters and annual report.
  • Create and maintain active press contacts list.
  • Track, share, and archive press coverage of EBCLC.

Grants and Reporting

  • Support Senior Contracts Officer with ongoing tasks related to government contracts, including monthly and quarterly billing and reporting activities.
  • Draft and edit grant proposals or research briefs as directed by Senior Contracts Officer and Institutional Giving Manager.
  • Liaise with programs to create or collect client stories and information for grant proposals and reports.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary for this full-time exempt position is $74,340 - $85,340, as dictated by EBCLC’s salary scale.

Benefits include fully paid health insurance (medical, dental, and vision) for employees and their dependents, life and disability insurance, and generous paid leave (vacation, sick, and holidays). EBCLC also offers flexible spending accounts for qualified health, dependent care, and commute expenditures; and retirement options.

Workplace Expectations

EBCLC is a hybrid workplace. This position is primarily remote but will require in-person attendance at meetings and events.

Working At EBCLC

Please take time to review EBCLC’s mission, vision, programs, and website, and ensure that your cover letter reflects how your background, experience, and expertise have prepared you to be successful in performing the responsibilities of the position.
