Job Description
HiBob helps modern, mid-size businesses transform the way they manage people, giving HR and managers all they need to connect, engage, develop, and retain top talent. Since 2015, we've achieved consecutive triple-digit year-over-year growth, all backed by our amazing team of Bobbers from across the globe, making us the choice HRIS of over 4000 midsize and multinational companies.
Our HR platform is intuitive, data-driven, and built for the way people work today: globally, remotely, and collaboratively.
Come and be you with us
Being a Bobber is all about being you. We want you to bring all parts of yourself to work, giving you the freedom and confidence to be the best you and do your best work. If that's bubbly, shy, precise, funny, bold, kind, honest, brilliant, or anything in between, we're waiting with open arms. Come join us.
As a DevOps Lead, this will be a player-coach role. You will manage and mentor one Senior DevOps Engineer while spending 60-80% of your time hands-on designing, building, and operating production systems.
You will be deeply involved in supporting AI-focused projects such as: automating complex deployment workflows to reduce manual effort and speed up releases, using predictive models to detect system anomalies before they cause downtime, building and maintaining and AI-driven Slack bot that helps developers debug and deploy more efficiently, and more!
You will also be involved in supporting cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD, GitOps, observability, and internal developer platforms, with a strong focus on developer enablement and operational excellence. This role is ideal for a senior DevOps engineer who wants to lead without giving up deep technical ownership.
This is a fully remote role, however, you must be physically located in EST or CST and willing and able to work EST hours Monday-Friday and participate in on-call rotations. We cannot consider candidates located in MST or PST at this time.
Base salary for this role ranges from $210,000 - $260,000 per year.
Job Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience as a DevOps / Platform Engineer. Must be able to pass 2 technical interviews.
  • 2+ years of people management experience. Mentorship experience does not count.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS or a similar public cloud
  • Proven experience running Kubernetes in production, including Helm
  • Strong experience with CI/CD and GitOps (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD)
  • Solid background in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform; Crossplane is a plus)
  • Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, and security
  • Experience working in SaaS, production-heavy, multi-team environments

Strong Advantages
  • Experience to AI / LLM-based tooling or intelligent automation in DevOps
  • Experience with the Argo ecosystem (Workflows, Events, Rollouts)
  • Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd, or similar)
  • Experience building developer platforms or internal tooling
  • Experience with ephemeral environments

Job Responsibilities
Hands-On Technical Ownership (60-80%)
  • Design, build, and operate production-grade Kubernetes infrastructure in AWS
  • Build and evolve GitOps-based CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and ArgoCD
  • Develop internal DevOps tooling and developer self-service platforms
  • Lead implementation of automation and AI-assisted DevOps workflows
  • Own systems end-to-end: from design and code to deployment, monitoring, and incidents

Team Leadership & Mentorship
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of DevOps engineers
  • Provide technical guidance through architecture reviews, code reviews, and pairing
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, goal-setting, and continuous feedback
  • Create a culture of ownership, learning, and operational responsibility

Platform & Operational Excellence
  • Own the full delivery lifecycle from source code to production
  • Design and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability using Datadog
  • Define and track KPIs, SLOs, and operational metrics
  • Improve reliability, security, cost efficiency, and disaster recovery practices
  • Participate in incident response and post-incident reviews

Cross-Team Impact
  • Work closely with R&D, Security, and Product teams to enable fast and safe delivery
  • Lead cross-team DevOps initiatives by doing, not just coordinating
  • Translate developer pain points into scalable platform solutions
