Job DescriptionThe Digital News Producer is responsible for producing compelling, digital-first news content for an ongoing video series across web, social, streaming, and emerging platforms. Working closely with editorial leadership, hosts, reporters, editors, and production teams, this role manages the day-to-day production of episodes from story development through publication while ensuring content is timely, accurate, engaging, and aligned with the organization's editorial standards and public service mission.
Specific responsibilities include:
Research, develop, and pitch timely story ideas aligned with the editorial strategy;
Collaborate with editors, reporters, and hosts to shape compelling digital-first news stories;
Conduct background research and fact verification to ensure journalistic accuracy;
Assist in writing episode outlines, scripts, interview questions, and supporting editorial materials;
Coordinate guest outreach and interview logistics when appropriate;
Coordinate production timelines across editorial, video production, graphics, and post-production teams;
Prepare production briefs, rundowns, shot lists, and production notes;
Lead on-location and on-line video shoots;
Create and manage partnerships with other news/civic affairs journalists and organizations;
Monitor deadlines and ensure projects remain on schedule;
Other relevant duties, as assigned.
Qualified candidates will possess a commitment to the journalistic principles of truth, accuracy, fairness and impartiality as well as excellent writing, copy editing, and storytelling skills. Additional qualifications include:
Four or more years of experience producing digital news, documentary, or current affairs content.
A background in journalism, including experience with factchecking.
Experience producing content for YouTube, streaming, social media, or other digital platforms.
Experience producing hosts/on-air talent.
Excellent writing, copy editing, and storytelling skills.
Familiarity with digital production workflows, content management systems, and video production processes.

Salary ranges are based on benchmarked nonprofit and industry related data provided by an outside consulting firm and are commensurate with skills and experience. The hiring salary range for this position is $68,000.00 - $80,000.00. Internal equity considerations will be reviewed before making a final offer.
