Job Description

The Digital Product Manager plays a key role in defining, delivering, and overseeing the lifecycle of multiple products within Allstate’s expanding portfolio. This position is responsible for setting the strategic vision, leading product discovery, and creating roadmaps to maximize value for both customers and the enterprise. Specifically, the Digital Product Manager for Container Workloads will guide the evolution and simplification of our microservices ecosystem across our multi-cloud Platform as a Service offering. They will take ownership of the strategy, roadmap, product health, usability, adoption, and value creation related to developing and running reference workloads that test and validate our container hosting model. This drives a simplified user experience, reliable runtime, and operational stability in all environments.
The team’s mission is to deliver simplified, secure, and scalable patterns that empower engineering teams to efficiently and reliably manage modern workload ecosystems, aligning with our platform vision. Lastly, we expect Allstate Digital Product managers to be hands-on and be able to use their products. Our ideal candidate can fully engage with the user experience by developing sample code, manage configurations, and incorporating application dependencies including database and storage systems.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Roadmap Ownership

  • Develop and articulate a long-term strategy for simplifying our microservice ecosystems across multi-cloud Platform as a Service environments.
  • Define product vision, roadmap, priorities, and success measures.
  • Align this strategy with enterprise modernization, cloud transformation, and container engineering initiatives.

Workload Capability Management

  • Drive the development of reference container workloads that exercise and validate our container based Platform as a Service hosting model ensuring experience consistency, runtime availability and operational reliability.
  • Influence the evolution of core dependencies such as application runtimes, container platforms, service mesh, networking, autoscaling, database, storage, observability, and release governance.
  • Identify and prioritize enhancements to support workload efficiency, resiliency, security, and scalability.
  • Partner with engineering teams to ensure container workloads meet user build and run requirements.

Outcome-Based Product Delivery

  • Author, refine, and prioritize stories and epics focused on delivering incremental value to platform consumers.
  • Define and track KPIs such as deployment speed, usage, adoption, and experience consistency.
  • Conduct discovery, backlog refinement, and agile ceremonies to support continuous value delivery.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with cloud architects, platform consultants, security leaders, infrastructure engineering, and application teams to ensure container workload capabilities align with technical and business requirements.
  • Work with developer experience teams to enhance documentation, onboarding, and self-service workflows.
  • Facilitate alignment across multiple stakeholders in engineering, business, and operations.

Technical & Systems Thinking

  • Understand distributed systems and microservices hosting patterns to inform product decisions.
  • Incorporate best practices in application development, cloud-native architecture, multi-hybrid cloud environments, and platform governance.
  • Translate technical challenges and opportunities into meaningful product roadmaps.

Stakeholder & Change Leadership

  • Communicate product vision, roadmap progress, risks, and adoption plans to leadership and partner teams.
  • Serve as a thought leader for hosting modernization and cloud-native engineering practices.
  • Influence cross-team decision-making and drive alignment through strong communication and negotiation skills.

 

Experience

• 5 or more years of product management experience (Preferred)

• Experience with internal developer platforms or Platform as a Service application hosting

• Recent hands-on experience writing code

• Fundamentals of microservices

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is 120,000.00 - 193,725.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.
