Hiive is redefining how private companies and their shareholders access liquidity. Through its institutional-grade platform, Hiive brings together buyers, sellers, and issuers to facilitate secondary transactions in venture-backed, pre-IPO companies, introducing efficiency, transparency, and standardization to an otherwise opaque asset class.

Recognized as one of Canada’s fastest-growing companies and backed by leading U.S. investors, Hiive is profitable, well-capitalized, and building a high-performance team to meet growing demand and pursue new market opportunities.

As Director, API Platform Product Management at Hiive, you will own the strategy, roadmap, and execution of Hiive's API platform and partner integration ecosystem. This is a new function. You'll define how external technology partners connect to Hiive, and how Hiive's data and capabilities are exposed through well-designed, developer-friendly APIs to connect to us.

This role sits at the intersection of product strategy, technical architecture, and business development. You'll work closely with engineering, compliance, and business teams to build an integration layer that accelerates Hiive's growth.

You'll report to the CPTO and be a key member of the product leadership team, with the anticipation of multiple technical product manager direct reports.

In this role, your responsibilities would include:

API platform strategy

  • Define the vision and roadmap for Hiive's external API platform, from initial partner integrations to a broader developer ecosystem.

  • Own the end-to-end API product lifecycle: design, documentation, versioning, governance, and deprecation.

  • Work with engineering partners to establish API design standards and conventions that prioritize developer experience, consistency, and security.

  • Participate in build, buy, and partner decisions for integration infrastructure

Partner integrations

  • Lead the product side of integrations with other financial infrastructure providers.

  • Translate complex, domain-specific requirements (fund structures, capital account data, compliance workflows, trading mechanics) into clean, well-scoped API contracts.

  • Build bidirectional integration patterns: both exposing Hiive data to partners and ingesting external data into Hiive.

  • Work directly with partner engineering and product teams to design, ship, and iterate on integrations.

Cross-functional execution

  • Partner with engineering to make technical architecture decisions, inform build priorities, and maintain API quality and reliability.

  • Work with compliance and legal teams to ensure integrations meet regulatory requirements (FINRA, broker-dealer obligations, data handling, KYC/AML).

  • Collaborate with business teams to identify high-value integration opportunities that drive revenue.

  • Coordinate with internal product teams to ensure platform APIs are consistent with the core product experience.

Developer experience and ecosystem

  • Build and maintain API documentation, developer guides, and sandbox environments that make it easy for partners to integrate with Hiive.

  • Devise GTM practices for partners to stand-up and maintain integrations into Hiive, including version management and changelog processes

  • Define success metrics for the API platform: partner onboarding time, integration reliability, API adoption, and revenue attribution.

  • Lay the groundwork for a broader developer ecosystem as the platform matures.

Required skills:

  • 8-12 years of product management or related engineering experience, with at least 3 years owning API platforms, developer platforms, or technical integration products.

  • Hands-on experience designing and shipping APIs at a modern, API-first or platform-oriented company

  • Deep technical fluency: you can read API specs, participate meaningfully in architecture discussions, and write clear technical requirements.

  • A track record of shipping integrations that drive measurable business outcomes (partner adoption, revenue, retention).

  • Strong communication skills: you can translate between engineering, business, compliance, and external partner teams without losing fidelity.

Preferred skills:

  • Experience in private markets, wealth management, fund administration, or cap table management.

  • Experience building partner integrations in regulated or compliance-heavy environments (financial services, payments, or securities preferred).

  • Familiarity with private fund structures (SPVs, SAFs, LP/GP relationships, capital accounts)

  • Experience with API commercialization or marketplace/ecosystem business models.

  • Experience building a platform product function from scratch at a growth-stage company.

Compensation, Benefits & Perks:

  • Highly competitive salary commensurate with experience and contribution.

  • Opportunity to participate in ownership of a rapidly growing company through our employee stock option plan.

  • Comprehensive 100% employer-paid health and dental premiums, a health and personal spending account.

  • If you are based in Vancouver, enjoy a dedicated desk in our Vancouver, BC HQ, in the heart of downtown, with a fridge stocked with healthy snacks and drinks, an onsite gym, and a gorgeous rooftop amenity.

  • Enjoy a $20-per-day commuter benefit for every day you work in our Vancouver HQ.

  • An engaging social calendar, including bi-weekly catered lunches, bi-weekly “Friday bar,” team workouts, annual summer party, and holiday party, two “onsite” all-team retreats each year, semi-annual team-building events, and Hiive Women’s Network events.

  • Significant opportunities for growth into team leadership and management roles.

  • Entrepreneurial culture and a small and dynamic team.

  • Sponsorship, immigration, and relocation for exceptional candidates.

Hiive is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where all individuals have an opportunity to succeed.
