Job Description

Advantest America Inc. (AAI) is seeking a Director of Application Engineering to lead the Power Analog Computer (PAC) organization with four product groups in San Jose, CA. This role will support the Power/Analog 93k and T2000 systems, process monitor configurations of the 93k, and CREA systems which is a subsidiary of Advantest for SIC/GaN testers.

The ideal candidate should be initiative-taking, hands‑on leader with strong organizational skills and the ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced engineering environment. Responsibilities include overseeing engineering teams, managing project development and deployment, driving staff skills‑development plans, and collaborating closely with R\&D and Sales teams.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop staffing plans to support customer‑site product engagements.
  • Establish and refine standards, processes, and tools across the device testing lifecycle to enable production‑ready solutions.
  • Partner with sub‑managers to build strong, effective teams.
  • Support preparation of end‑user documentation and application notes; for internal members and customer learning sessions.
  • Participate in customer technical meetings to ensure alignment with requirements and delivery capabilities.
  • Collaborate across teams to resolve field‑support issues.
  • Management of budgets, Capital equipment needs, along with staff job equipment.
  • Monthly reports, yearly team goals, along with development of focus teams for new product support.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 15+ years of management experience for electronics, embedded systems, or automation.
  • 5+ years with ATE equipment usage in development and production deployment.
  • Formidable team building skills, including use of project reporting tools and efficiency measurement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, initiative-taking, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Customer‑focused with strong problem‑solving and consultative skills.
  • Strong Customer communication skills
  • Able to manage and interface with different product groups
