POSITION SUMMARY 

Under general supervision, the Director of Career Services assists in management of the Career Services Department at a designated campus.  The Director of Career Services is responsible for providing career advice to current students and graduates, advises participants on job search strategies and the logistics of securing and maintaining a job. He or She generates job leads and meets placement goals while maintaining relationships with externship sites and employers, in an effort to address their staffing solutions and to provide follow-up with placements. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provides one-on-one employment assistance to both students and graduates.  
  • Answers student and employer questions with regard to the externship, employment, and placement processes.  
  • Generate employer database through cold calling, mailing, and site visits.  
  • Responsible for weekly placements goals and 90-day employment verification.  
  • Identify and develop viable extern site opportunities for students. 
  • Establishing and cultivating relationships with extern sites to encourage maximum potential for students to be offered employment upon completion of externship. 
  • Track weekly extern attendance (time cards)  
  • Initiate communication with faculty if there are challenges while a student is on extern 
  • Ensures that the student is prepared to begin the job search process by assisting with helping the students in resume writing, interview techniques, phone skills, networking, and other job search processes.  
  • Provides assistance to students with career preparation concerns throughout their tenure at the College.  
  • Maintains accurate student, graduate and employment records and phone logs, as appropriate.  
  • Assist graduates in securing education-related employment through assistance with interview techniques, resume assistance and critiquing, and by providing job leads.  
  • Establish a working relationship with existing and new companies.  
  • Participates in Student Assemblies, Orientations, Advisory Board, and Campus Leadership Team functions as scheduled. Conduct career preparation workshops as required. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Volume of targeted relationships established by program 
  • Number of graduates hired by PC established contact 
  • Number of interns/externs by PC established contact 
  • Number of Career Fair and other events attended/sponsored by PC 
  • PAC participants and testimonials by PC establish contact 
  • Maintaining “live” database 
  • Number of leads provided to BD repos 
  • Lined to campus metrics – incentive – meets/exceeds goals 
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 

  • Ability to gather data, analyze results, and present findings. 
  • Maintain professional appearance and demeanor.  
  • Knowledge of local business community. 
  • Demonstrated skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and the public. 
  • Possess the ability to generate leads and meet placement goals.  
  • Professional presentation skills and a strong command of the English language. 
  • Demonstrated Computer literacy skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, and Outlook. 
  • A working knowledge of the medical industry is preferred but not required.  
  • Attention to detail and accuracy a must. 
  • Basic Marketing knowledge 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred. 
  • Possess a minimum of three years of administrative and customer service experience. 
  • Previous experience in job development, staffing and recruitment, medical sales or a closely related field preferred.
