About WideFoc.us

WideFoc.us is a boutique social media agency that has been doing smart, human-first social since 2007. Yep, we’re almost 20 years old! We work with a carefully curated roster of clients — real estate developers, healthcare organizations, nonprofits, B2B SaaS and services, and consumer brands. We're a tight-knit remote team that takes the work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously.

The Opportunity

… and we're looking for a Director of Client Strategy & Growth to become the strategic heart of WideFoc.us.

This role is the connective tissue between our clients, our creative team, and the agency's future. You'll oversee client relationships, guide content strategy, manage and mentor our community managers, and — over time — step into a meaningful business development role alongside our founder and CEO, Eric Elkins.

This isn't just an account management job. We're looking for someone with the relationship instincts, strategic depth, and entrepreneurial ambition to eventually help run this agency. If you've been doing excellent work at a bigger shop and want real ownership, real autonomy, and a genuine stake in where a company goes — this is that opportunity.

What You'll Do

Client Strategy & Relationships

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all WideFoc.us clients — the person they trust, rely on, and look forward to hearing from
  • Lead new client Launch & Discovery meetings: ask the right questions, synthesize the answers, and translate them into content strategy and team direction
  • Onboard new clients, including profile audits, content pillar development, scheduling setup, and first content calendar reviews
  • Lead monthly reporting calls and content calendar reviews; conduct proactive check-ins to stay ahead of client concerns
  • Gauge client satisfaction weekly and act before small issues become big ones
  • Ensure all client deliverables are on-scope, on-brand, and on time
  • Bring fresh ideas to the table — platform trends, new tactics, creative pivots — tailored to each client's goals
  • Oversee on-site visit logistics from scheduling through content use and follow-up

Team Leadership

  • Manage and mentor our community managers through weekly 1:1s, monthly strategy sessions, and ongoing feedback
  • Review content calendars and copy for strategic alignment, brand voice, and quality
  • Coordinate with our Ad Strategist on paid campaign strategy, budgets, and performance
  • Hold the team accountable to deadlines and SOW expectations — with clarity, consistency, and care
  • Build on and document our repeatable processes so the team can operate confidently and consistently
  • Train new team members and manage smooth client transitions
  • Conduct quarterly check-ins and annual reviews with each team member
  • Participate in hiring decisions for new community managers and other staff

Business Development — A Phased Journey

We'll grow into this piece together. Here's how we're thinking about it:

  • Phase 1 — Learn the pitch: Once you get what we’re up to, you’ll begin joining Eric on prospect discovery calls and Free Strategy Sessions. Get comfortable with how we sell WideFoc.us, what questions we ask, and how we position our work.
  • Phase 2 — Lead the conversation: Take the lead on discovery calls and strategy presentations, with Eric as backup. You know the operations inside and out, which makes you incredibly persuasive.
  • Phase 3 — Hunt for growth: Proactively identify upsell opportunities within the existing client roster. Engage inbound leads from our outreach automation. Build referral relationships with complementary agencies and show up where our clients and prospects are.

You won't be cold-calling strangers on day one. But if you're genuinely excited about the idea of helping build a business — not just manage one — you'll thrive here.

Admin & Operations

  • Assign clients to community managers and adjust as team capacity and client needs shift
  • Identify when scope changes are needed and bring proposals to leadership
  • Research and evaluate tools that improve team efficiency and client experience
  • Participate in weekly leadership team meetings with Eric and Katie, our Director of Operations

What We're Looking For

We're not hiring a job title. We're hiring a person. Here's what that person looks like:

  • You have 4–7 years of social media account management or strategy experience, ideally at a boutique or mid-sized agency.
  • You're a natural client whisperer — clients feel understood, valued, and taken care of when you're in their corner.
  • You have strong strategic instincts across social platforms: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest, Pinterest, Threads, and whatever comes next.
  • You are genuinely organized. You build systems. Dropped balls bother you. You create processes instead of keeping things in your head.
  • You're comfortable having direct conversations — including the ones where you have to hold a team member accountable or deliver news a client doesn't want to hear.
  • You have entrepreneurial energy. You're not looking for a job to coast in; you want to help build something.
  • You communicate with warmth, clarity, and confidence — in writing, on calls, and in a room full of strangers at a networking event.
  • Bonus: You've had some exposure to business development, even informally.

We believe in paying people well for the impact they create — including what they generate for the agency's growth.

Here's how this role is structured:

Base Salary: $85,000 – $95,000, based on experience and agency background

New Client Commission: 10% of monthly retainer, paid for up to 12 months on each new client closed

Account Growth Commission: 10% of incremental increase, paid for up to 6 months on expanded retainers

On-Target Earnings: $110,000 – $130,000+ Commission is uncapped — high performers earn more

The commission structure is uncapped and transparent. If you bring in a $6,000/month client, you earn $600/month — that's $7,200 added to your income if they stick around for that first year (we tend to keep clients!), and $72,000 in new revenue for WideFoc.us.

We win together.

Why WideFoc.us

  • Real autonomy — after training, you'll begin to shape how this role looks, not just execute someone else's playbook
  • A talented, kind, and collaborative team that does excellent work and supports each other
  • Direct mentorship from the founder and a genuine path to agency leadership — and eventually, to running the business
  • Fully remote across the US — we hire for talent, not zip code
  • A client roster we're proud of, in verticals where social media moves the needle

How to Apply

Send the following to [email protected]:

  • A cover letter telling us how your background sets you up for success in this role — and why this role, at our li’l agency, interests you specifically
  • Your resume or CV
  • Work samples — social media content you’ve managed, writing examples, a portfolio, or anything else that shows us what you’re capable of
  • One example of how you’re using AI professionally — not a pitch, just a real thing you’re doing

We review every application personally, but we won’t consider incomplete submissions. Please don’t send AI slop. This is a big role, and we want the exact right person.
