Overview
Our North America sales organization is seeking to build a diverse, strategic and consultative workforce of world-class relationship managers, problem-solvers, and technologists. We are looking for an Account Manager to join our team who can drive value for one of our largest, most strategic national issuers.
The Director, Account Management role is a senior individual contributor responsible for driving strategy, revenue growth, financial performance, and execution for a large, complex Consumer Debit portfolio. The role serves as the primary client relationship owner on the Consumer Debit portfolio, accountable for outcomes and long-term strategic partnership development.
This position drives portfolio and revenue growth through consultative sales leadership, portfolio and initiative expansion, and strategic account planning, while partnering closely with Product, Services, Finance, Analytics, and Technology to translate client priorities into scalable, enterprise solutions. Success in this role requires strong commercial judgment, excellent, executive-level communication skills, robust financial acumen, and the ability to lead high-impact initiatives across a matrixed organization.
Responsibilities
Account & Client Relationship Leadership• Own end-to-end strategy and execution for major portfolio-related initiatives, aligning Mastercard capabilities to client priorities and market dynamics.• Serve as the primary client portfolio relationship owner, leading commercial discussions, opportunity development, and long-term account growth strategies.• Act as a trusted advisor to key client stakeholders, delivering insight-driven recommendations that strengthen partnerships and portfolio performance.
Financial & Commercial Ownership• Deliver consistent performance results across annual financial objectives, revenue targets, and portfolio goals.• Drive portfolio growth and profitability through consultative sales leadership, disciplined financial management, and identification of expansion opportunities within the existing client relationship.• Lead financial strategy and decision support for major commercial activities, including renewals, extensions, and new opportunities.
Strategic Execution & Operational Leadership• Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives that address strategic or operational needs and enable sustainable portfolio optimization and growth.• Partner with internal teams to deliver integrated solutions that improve efficiency, scalability, and client outcomes.• Oversee planning and execution of strategic initiatives, managing risks, interdependencies, and trade-offs to ensure successful delivery.
Cross-Functional Integration & Influence• Act as the central integrator across Product, Services, Finance, Analytics, and Technology to align strategy, execution, and delivery supporting the entire Consumer Debit portfolio.• Influence stakeholders driving alignment, accountability, and results across teams.• Proactively surface and resolve issues that could impact portfolio performance or client outcomes.
Enterprise & Cross-Product Initiative Contribution• Advance the Bank's and Mastercard's priorities by supporting cross-product / cross-portfolio initiatives that drive performance, consistency, and scale across Consumer, SMB, and adjacent portfolios.• Contribute to the evolution of enterprise best practices by shaping operating models, portfolio management approaches, and scalable capabilities that can be applied across products and lines of business.• Act as a trusted partner across stakeholders, modeling a consultative, results-oriented approach that reflects Mastercard's values and reinforces a client-centric, enterprise mindset.
Experience & Qualifications• Comprehensive experience executing and delivering innovative solutions, engagement initiatives and thought leadership related to Consumer Credit,
Consumer Debit or Small Business portfolios• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of MasterCard's core products with a focus on Consumer Credit, Consumer Debit or Small Business• Demonstrated project management and execution skills with strong ability to manage deliverables and deadlines for multiple initiatives and teams• Proven skills in relationship management and managing multiple stakeholders with professionalism and maturity• Experience partnering with Financial Institutions• Superior executive-level written and oral communications skills• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally• Results driver, with flexible "can do" perspective and strong interest in serving our customers• Strong analytical skills and financial acumen, with the ability to interpret complex data, assess business performance, and support decision-making across portfolios• Travel required - ~ 25%.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Mastercard benefits for interns generally include: 56 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time; jury duty leave; and on-site fitness facilities in some locations.

Purchase, New York: $158,000 - $253,000 USD
Arlington, Virginia: $158,000 - $253,000 USD
New York City, New York: $164,000 - $264,000 USD
O'Fallon, Missouri: $137,000 - $220,000 USD
Remote - Delaware: $137,000 - $220,000 USD
Remote - North Carolina: $137,000 - $220,000 USD
