Position Overview:

Viral Nation is one of the most advanced applied-AI companies in North America, and the Director, Content Marketing is expected to operate like it. Reporting to the VP, Demand Generation, the Director builds and runs an AI-accelerated content engine that turns Viral Nation’s expertise, proprietary social data, and multi-vertical story into MQLs, SQLs, and pipeline sourced and influenced. The audience is clear: the content exists to attract and convert enterprise brands and the decision makers and marketing leaders who choose their agency partners. This role owns content strategy and execution end-to-end, from editorial vision to distribution, brand governance, and performance reporting, with a mandate to convert content into measurable pipeline across B2B and B2C audiences. Leading a lean team of two content contributors plus partnering with SEO/GEO and Owned Social leads, the Director is a player-coach, shipping high-impact thought leadership from the first weeks while building the systems that let the function scale.

Responsibilities:

Use AI to accelerate content marketing

  • Design and own an AI-enabled content production system (e.g., Claude, Claude Code, custom agents and workflows) that sustains a high-volume, always-on cadence without sacrificing quality or brand voice.
  • Build reusable prompts, voice guides, templates, and agentic workflows so research, drafting, repurposing, and QA run as a repeatable engine rather than one-off efforts.
  • Partner with Viral Nation’s applied-AI teams and tooling to produce work that is better, faster, and more differentiated than a traditional content function could deliver.
  • Set the standard for responsible AI use in content: human editorial judgment, fact-checking, and brand governance on every asset.

Operationalize the content function to drive business growth

  • Translate business objectives into a cohesive content strategy and editorial calendar aimed at winning enterprise brand clients, tied to demand-generation and pipeline goals across the full funnel.
  • Run the function as an operating system: clear roles, workflows, checks and balances, and deadlines managed in Monday.com, with weekly cadence reviews and visible status for every asset.
  • Design content-to-conversion pathways, gated assets, nurture tracks, landing pages, and CTAs that capture, qualify, and advance leads in partnership with the demand-gen team.
  • Build the tracking and attribution framework (UTMs, conversion events, multi-touch attribution) with marketing ops/RevOps so content-sourced and content-influenced pipeline is visible in HubSpot.
  • Define, instrument, and own the content KPIs that matter to lead gen: traffic-to-lead conversion, MQL/SQL volume, pipeline influenced and sourced, cost-per-lead, engagement-to-conversion, and content-assisted revenue and ROI.
  • Run a continuous test-and-optimize cycle (headlines, formats, CTAs, offers) and reallocate effort toward what generates the most qualified demand.
  • Deliver actionable performance reporting and executive-level insights to senior leadership to guide investment and prioritization.

Produce and ship content through a hyper-growth phase

  • Personally write, edit, and ship high-impact thought leadership, while standing up the system that lets the team sustain it.
  • Establish a weekly cadence of differentiated thought leadership that makes the gap between Viral Nation and the next competitor unmistakable, alongside tentpole white papers and research reports.
  • Turn Viral Nation’s proprietary social and creator data into a steady stream of data-driven listicles, rankings, and insight pieces.
  • Capitalize on cultural and industry moments in real time, weighing in with a point of view on what is happening in influencer and social marketing as it happens.
  • Drive quick wins early: repurpose and redistribute high-performing assets, refresh high-potential content, and improve CTAs while longer-form programs come online.
  • Expand beyond written formats into video and visual assets in partnership with the in-house creative team, including client case-study and testimonial video that shows what it is like to work with Viral Nation.

Distribution, brand, and team

  • Drive distribution of content through the channels this role owns (web, blog, SEO, email, gated assets) in partnership with demand gen, and the Manager, Owned Social with content and source material so thought leadership shows up consistently on LinkedIn and other platforms.
  • Oversee SEO-optimized content built to rank and convert, working with the in-house SEO experts and performance data to grow qualified organic traffic.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders across SEO, product, sales, and demand gen to align content with launches and the buyer journey, fuel campaigns, and enable sales.
  • Enforce editorial standards and keep messaging consistent with brand guidelines across every touchpoint.
  • Manage and mentor the two content contributors plus a scalable freelance/agency bench into a high-performing team; set clear priorities for what the Director owns versus what the team executes.
  • Lead competitive and industry research, and stay ahead of platform shifts, AI-driven workflows, and emerging audience behaviors.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Hands-on, current fluency with AI content tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) and experience building AI-assisted or agentic workflows (e.g., Claude Code, custom agents) that scale production while protecting brand voice and quality.
  • 8+ years in content marketing, digital marketing, or communications, including experience owning content as a lead-generation channel and leading a team; agency, B2B/B2C, or high-growth environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of using content to drive measurable pipeline: traffic-to-lead conversion, MQL/SQL growth, and content-influenced revenue and ROI.
  • Proven ability to operationalize a content function: build workflows, cadences, and accountability in a project management platform (e.g., Monday.com, Asana) and run a lean team against aggressive output goals.
  • Strong writer and editor who can personally produce executive-grade thought leadership, and who is comfortable being a player-coach during a build phase.
  • Strong leadership and executive-level presentation skills, with experience building and mentoring multi-disciplinary content teams and managing freelance/agency resources.
  • Data-driven, funnel-minded, and comfortable being accountable to revenue-adjacent metrics.
This role has an annual salary range of $125,000 to $150,000.

This range reflects the full scope and progression of the role, from building capability to operating with sustained impact at a higher level. In addition to base salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits and total rewards package designed to support our team as they grow with us.

Where an offer falls within this range is determined through the interview process. Candidates are benchmarked by the hiring team based on role scope, relevant experience, skill alignment, and expected impact, using consistent and objective criteria.

Compensation Philosophy:

At Viral Nation, compensation is structured, performance-led, and market-aligned. Pay decisions are intentional, based on role requirements, performance, and market alignment by country, and are set to maintain internal pay equity across comparable roles and levels.

Compensation progression is tied to demonstrated performance, expanded scope, and sustained contribution over time, not tenure alone. Employee compensation is reviewed regularly through formal performance reviews and check-ins to ensure alignment with role expectations and impact.

AI in Recruitment:

Viral Nation does not use AI-enabled tools to screen, assess, rank, or select candidates – our hiring teams make all hiring decisions. AI note-taking tools may be used during interviews.

DEI Commitment:

Viral Nation is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion in our agency. Viral Nation welcomes applications from people with visible and non-visible disabilities. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the recruiting and selection process.
