The Director of Design will lead brand design, UI/UX, and creative strategies, mentor a design team, and collaborate across departments to elevate Gantri's design identity and digital presence.
Company
Gantri is building the digital manufacturer for design. We combine software, advanced materials, and a local digital factory to produce high-mix, low-volume furniture and lighting on demand. We partner with world-class designers and brands to create products that are more innovative, more sustainable, and made locally.
We’re looking for a Director of Design to lead brand design, UI/UX, and creative at Gantri — someone with exceptional taste and a track record of building cohesive, elevated brand experiences for design-forward, tech-enabled consumer companies.
Role
We're looking for a Director of Design to lead and elevate every dimension of Gantri's design expression, including brand, digital, and creative. This person will own the visual identity and experience of a company where design is the entire point.
You'll set the creative bar across brand design, UI/UX, campaigns, packaging, and storytelling. You'll build and mentor a tight-knit, high-caliber team. You'll work closely with Product, Marketing, Sales and Software to shape how Gantri looks, feels, and communicates at every touchpoint. This is a rare opportunity to lead the design voice of a design disrupter.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve Gantri's brand identity, visual language, and design system across all channels and touchpoints
- Evolve Gantri’s product vision to be consistent with the brand
- Lead the UI/UX vision for gantri.com, MadeOS (our custom manufacturing platform) and our industry-leading FactoryOS software, ensuring the digital experience reflects the quality and intentionality of our brand
- Build, lead, and mentor a lean creative team spanning brand design, digital design, and creative
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, and Software to ensure design consistency and excellence
- Establish and maintain creative standards, processes, and guidelines that scale with the company
- Champion a culture of craft, taste, and creative ambition throughout the organization
- Partner with external collaborators, including photographers, directors, agencies to produce world-class creative work
- Guide product identity of Gantri’s catalog of original designs
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in brand design, digital design, or creative direction, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- A portfolio that demonstrates exceptional taste, range, and a track record of building memorable brand experiences for design-led or premium consumer companies
- Deep fluency in both brand and digital design — you can art-direct a campaign and critique a complex onboarding flow with equal confidence
- Experience building and leading small, high-performing design / creative teams
- Strong understanding of e-commerce UX, responsive design, and how great design drives conversion
- Excellent eye for typography, color, composition, and detail
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, resource-conscious environment where you're hands-on as much as you are strategic
- An authentic appreciation for industrial design, architecture, interiors, or the broader design world
- Bonus:
- Experience in the lighting, furniture, home, or lifestyle space
- Familiarity with 3D rendering, motion design, or spatial/experiential design
- A personal creative practice or side projects that reflect your point of view
Why Gantri
- Gantri sits at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and software. We’re building a new production model for a new era where great design doesn’t require mass production.
- If you care about taste, systems, and building something category-defining — this is a rare opportunity to shape a brand and platform from the inside.
Benefits
- Competitive salary and equity
- Medical, dental and vision insurance
- 401k
- Paid vacation days and paid holidays
- Access to 3D printers for your personal projects
- Monthly team lunches
- And much more
