The Company

Voltus is the leading platform connecting distributed energy resources to electricity markets, delivering less expensive, more reliable, and more sustainable electricity.

Voltus builds power capacity at scale. We aggregate distributed energy resources into virtual power plants that compete directly against traditional power plants in wholesale electricity markets. As load growth accelerates, the grid is confronting structural constraints.

Voltus enables faster, cleaner, lower-cost capacity by optimizing existing infrastructure rather than waiting years for new generation to come online. Our platform sits at the intersection of technology, market design, and public policy.

This is a remote role. Candidates must be based in the United States, with a preference for someone located in one of the wholesale market territories. Travel required.

The Role

We’re seeking a Director of Sales to lead the Enterprise sales team, reporting directly to the VP of Sales. This position requires every aspect of growing and directly managing an elite outside sales team, experience driving complex sales cycles with enterprise-class customers, and a hunger to be a true subject matter expert in the  demand response and distributed energy resources industry.

The Director of Enterprise Sales serves as a player/coach and is responsible for delivering on an aggressive sales plan, ensuring the team exceeds its qualified booked meetings goal, and for growing and developing their team of Enterprise Sales Directors.

This role is right for you if you:

  • Are the best in your craft of sales
  • Dedicate yourself to the craft of sales
  • Love to win as a team
  • Understand energy markets (and want to continue to learn!)
  • Develop deep relationships with decision makers at Fortune 1000 companies and commercial and industrial customers
  • Feel inspired by innovation
  • Embody our Bright, Gritty & Good philosophy

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver against quarterly and annual quota
  • Recruit, support, coach, & develop team of Enterprise Sales Directors
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue throughout the customer lifecycle
  • Develop thorough functional knowledge of the nine wholesale energy markets and products Voltus offers
  • Work cross-functionally to drive impactful customer engagements
  • Use data to track progress toward goals
  • Timely reporting and management of Enterprise Team activities through Voltus’s CRM system
  • Develop & drive best practices across the organization

Please note that at this time, we do not sponsor visas or transfers for new hires. Voltus teammates need to be authorized to work from their home location (in the US or Canada, unless otherwise indicated on the role description).

Additionally, while Voltus is an all-remote workplace, we have limitations on where employees are able to work for regulatory and security reasons. We expect that Voltans are working primarily from their home country. Working while traveling to other countries must be approved as per our Global Remote Travel Policy.

At Voltus, we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer because we recognize that a diverse organization begins with a diverse candidate pool. This means we do not tolerate discrimination of any kind and are committed to providing equal employment opportunities regardless of your gender identity, race, nationality, religion, age, sexual orientation, veteran status, disability status, or marital status.
