At Orchard, we’re securing America’s food supply by building the AI Farmer that automates our nation’s farms. We are the industry leader, growing rapidly, and backed by more than $25 million from leading investors, including Quiet Capital, Shine Capital, and General Catalyst.

Every year, hundreds of billions of dollars in crop value are lost because critical farming decisions are made using incomplete and imprecise data. We’re building the technology to change that.

Our AI-powered camera systems mount to tractors and scan millions of trees, vines, and plants, capturing precise data on yield estimates, fruit size, crop health, disease, and more. We train edge vision AI models that analyze every plant and determine exactly what interventions and treatments it needs. That intelligence flows into FruitScope OS, our farm-management platform, where growers can understand their crops, make better decisions, and direct operations in the field.

Today, Orchard’s technology is trusted by some of our nation’s largest farms. They use our products to grow higher-quality crops while reducing chemical use and operating costs, helping them farm more profitably and sustainably than ever before.

Our Culture:
  • Unshakeable Resilience – Our customers feed millions of people, and our customers depend on us. We are ultra-hardworking, never give up, and we do whatever it takes.

  • Always Keep Moving – We move fast, waste no time, and have an extreme bias towards action. Progress compounds every day, and our impact is measured in decades.

  • Improve Everything – At 1% success, we save millions of pounds of food from going to waste. If we are 100% successful we will impact the lives of billions of people across the world.

  • Farmers First – Every team member spends at least a few days in the fields with our farmers each month.

  • No Job Beneath Us – We’re low ego, own every outcome, and are all working towards the same goal.

The Role:

Here at Orchard, we are growing fast: more customers, more international operations, and a rapidly scaling team. We are looking for our first Finance hire, one internal owner who will ensure our financial and revenue operations run smoothly every day.

As Director of Finance & Revenue Operations, you will serve as the day-to-day finance partner to our CEO and leadership team, owning finance operations, revenue operations, AR / AP, forecasting, modeling, and more. You will connect our contracts, CRM, billing, expenses, headcount, and operating plan into one reliable source of truth.

This is neither a narrow accounting role nor is it a pure strategy position that delegates execution. You will work across the stack, and work between high-level planning and detailed execution: building the models, sending the invoices, improving our systems, and owning everything finance-related. You will work closely with our external CPAs, VP Sales, Operations Lead, and each department head.

What You’ll Own
  • Run day-to-day finance operations, including invoicing, AR/AP, vendor payments, expense controls, and cash visibility.

  • Own the operating model, budget, cash forecast, headcount plan, and scenario analysis.

  • Maintain authoritative schedules for billing, renewals, and payment terms.

  • Administer sales commissions and incentive calculations accurately and transparently.

  • Partner with our VP of Sales on revenue forecasting, commissions, and more.

  • Partner with our external CPAs on the monthly close, taxes, and financial controls.

  • Build management dashboards that give our leaders visibility into operating metrics.

  • Support pricing, contract economics, international expansion, and other commercial decisions with rigorous modeling.

  • Establish practical approval policies, documentation, and controls that reduce risk without slowing the company down.

What We Look For
  • 5+ years in startup finance, strategic finance, accounting operations, investment banking, consulting, or a related role. In-house startup operating experience is strongly preferred.

  • Exceptional financial modeling and spreadsheet skills.

  • Strong command of the three financial statements and how they connect.

  • Experience owning billing, AR/AP, commissions, and other recurring financial workflows.

  • Extreme attention to detail.

  • Strong systems thinking; experience with QuickBooks, Ramp, payroll platforms, CRM systems (HubSpot), and planning tools is helpful.

  • Clear communication with leadership and non-finance teammates.

  • Comfortable operating as a team of one internally while coordinating effectively with external experts.

About the Opportunity
  • Full-time role, five days a week at our San Francisco office.

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage with 100% of employee premiums covered.

  • You'll own and define the Finance function at a rapidly growing, category-defining company.

  • The opportunity to build the systems that will support Orchard through its next stage of scale.

  • We move fast, and sometimes this means staying late or working weekends

  • Our team is close-knit and highly driven, you’ll work directly with leadership and collaborate across all our teams

  • We’re deeply motivated by the impact we’re making – every piece of progress we make means less food that goes to waste, and more people who are fed.
