Essential Job Functions:

The partner must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Serve as a key business partner and contribute to business strategy development and key business decisions by proactively aligning all aspects of the workforce to business strategies and operations. Apply knowledge of key business drivers in strategic decision making, planning and execution.

  • Promote best practices, foster collaboration across departments and ensure smooth implementation of HR solutions.

  • Facilitate cross-functional groups working together to solve difficult and complex problems accomplish challenging objectives.

  • Create a culture that works to resolve conflicts quickly and address underlying issues.

  • Evaluate organization vision, mission, structures, processes and people. Research, identify and address organizational effectiveness issues. Conduct assessments to provide a clear picture of the current state. Design, recommend and facilitate implementation of solutions to ensure alignment with Petco’s overall direction.

  • Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with distribution center associates and all professional contacts with emphasis on company interests.

  • Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.

Education (Required): Bachelor’s Degree and ten years progressively responsible related experience is required or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Education (Preferred): Master’s degree.

Certification (Preferred): HR certification (PHR or SPHR)

Work Experience (Required): Partner must be a strategic thought leader and have a history of implementing successful programs across complex organizations. Organizational credibility, business partnering, and decisive execution are the keys to success in this position. In addition, this position requires the following:

  • Demonstrated success in being a highly effective member of a cross-functional senior management team with a track record of accomplishments that have measurable business impact.

  • Advanced ability to respond quickly to new opportunities demands and challenges by mobilizing and engaging the organization effectively and efficiently.

  • Advanced and thorough knowledge of key human resource functions and processes, clients, organizational culture, design, development and effectiveness as well as business objectives and strategies.

  • Advanced ability to research information and analyze data to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations, and plans of action.

  • Demonstrated strength in conceptual and process thinking abilities with the ability to understand complex relationships, interdependencies and their impact on customers and associates.

  • Well-developed and demonstrated talent to quickly turn concepts into action and achieve desired results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated success conducting comprehensive needs analyses (quantitative and qualitative), organization design and development initiatives, implementing change models and developing organization structures while proactively driving ongoing optimization efforts.

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare comprehensive reports and represent ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing to employees, management, public groups and/or boards of directors.

  • Well-developed talent to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships in a highly-collaborative, matrixed environment with a track record of accomplishments with measurable business impact.

  • Must have demonstrated success leading, influencing and persuading divergent and diverse groups with the ability to adapt style to all levels of management and employees. Must have advanced conflict resolutions skills.

  • Well-developed and successful experience in coaching senior and executive management.

  • Excellent project management skills including successful leadership of projects from planning phase through completion.

  • Excellent leadership skills including superb communication with all levels of associates, delivery of results, consultative skills, partnership skills, facilitation and team building to ensure leadership and management effectiveness and development.

  • Demonstrated success in consulting and presentation skills including meeting/training facilitation.
