Zafran is on a mission to stop the exploitation of vulnerabilities everywhere. We’re rethinking how security teams prioritize risk, and we’re building something no one else has: a new operating model that defuses the threats that matter most—fast.

We’re looking for a commercially-minded legal leader to join as our first in-house legal hire. This is a unique opportunity to build and own the legal function at a high-growth Series C company, partnering closely with Sales and Finance to support revenue and scale. You’ll play a critical role in shaping how we approach commercial agreements while guiding the business through its next phase of growth. If you’re excited to operate at the intersection of legal, business, and growth—and to build something from the ground up—we’d love to talk.

About Zafran

Our Mission: To stop the exploitations of vulnerabilities, everywhere.

What makes us different: Zafran de-risks 90% of critical vulnerabilities overnight across your hybrid environment and uses your existing security tools to rapidly mitigate and remediate the 10% most likely to be exploited.

Who’s behind us: Zafran is backed by Sequoia Capital, Cyberstarts, and a deep belief that cybersecurity should move as fast as attackers do. We’re one of the fastest-growing companies in the industry, scaling to meet demand from the world’s most advanced, security-obsessed organizations.

We’re serious about our mission- so expect work that matters, teammates who challenge and inspire you, and plenty of fun along the way!

What you will do

  • Serve as the company’s senior-most legal leader, operating as a highly autonomous IC in a fast-growing Series C environment
  • Own all commercial legal work, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating customer, partners and vendor agreements
  • Partner closely with Sales, Finance, and GTM teams to drive efficient deal execution while managing risk
  • Build and scale contract templates, processes, and playbooks to support growth
  • Manage external counsel across corporate, employment, and other legal areas
  • Provide pragmatic, business-oriented legal guidance to leadership
  • 10+ years of legal experience with a strong focus on commercial contracting in high-growth tech
  • Cybersecurity experience preferred
  • Experience in a startup or scaling environment
  • Expertise negotiating complex customer agreements, ideally with enterprise clients
  • Experience managing external counsel across corporate and employment matters
  • Practical, business-minded approach with strong cross-functional collaboration skills
  • J.D. and active U.S. bar membership
  • U.S.-based; New York preferred

Closing:

At Zafran, people matter!  We provide a robust benefits program that includes flexible PTO, health insurance plans (medical, dental, vision), a monthly stipend for phone and internet, 401k, flexible spending account, and a home office stipend when joining!

At Zafran, we’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We believe the best teams are built by people who think differently, come from all kinds of backgrounds, and aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo.  We welcome everyone across race, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, national origin, and veteran status, because what matters most is what you bring to the table.

If you’re curious, fun, and someone who gets things done, we’d love to meet you
