Company info

NewLimit is a biotechnology company working to radically extend human healthspan. We’re developing medicines to treat age-related diseases by reprogramming the epigenome, a new therapeutic mechanism to restore regenerative potential in aged and diseased cells. We leverage functional genomics, pooled perturbation screening, and machine learning models to unravel the biology of epigenetic aging and disease using experiments of unprecedented scale.

Description

NewLimit is seeking a Director of Operations to support our scientific teams and build a strong G&A function. This is a high-impact role focused on increasing our effectiveness, efficiency, and execution velocity. Your goal will be to make NewLimit more effective on the margin, rather than to handle a narrowly circumscribed set of tasks. Your initial remit will include serving as the internal point of contact for Finance, Legal, and Business Development activities and managing our internal Operations team (LabOps, Facilities). Your role will increase in scope alongside the company. You will work closely with NewLimit’s Executive Team and report directly to the Cofounder & President.

What you'll do

As a Director of Operations at NewLimit, you will:

  • Own our Finance and Legal functions with support from fractional executives. Prepare and deliver budgets, projections, and regular financial statements.
  • Support the development of medicines by sourcing vendors, negotiating contracts, and overseeing external CRO/CDMO partners.
  • Manage facilities and laboratory operations to drive efficiency. Analyze workflows, inventory systems, and allocate capital expenses. Help us get more done per dollar invested.
  • Create business development relationships with both buy side and sell side partners.
  • Get your hands dirty. Everyone Executes at NewLimit. This is a role for someone excited to jump into any problem that arises in building the company.
Requirements
  • Operating experience in a biotech, technology, or manufacturing company (e.g. Technical Operations, Product Management, Process/Industrial Engineering, Finance, Business Development, management consulting).
  • Degree in a technical field (natural sciences, computer science, engineering) strongly preferred.
  • Financial modeling skills. You should be familiar with a balance sheet and a P&L, but you don’t need to be a CPA.
  • Experience optimizing a scientific or technical system to improve quality or output. We’re excited to hear a story about a time you turned an inefficient system into an excellent one.
Nice to have
  • Experience managing a team and allocating a departmental budget
  • History of contributions to therapeutics development (Tech/Clin Ops, etc)
  • Technical domain knowledge in the life sciences or computer science. Scientific output (publications, technical reports, software repositories) or a Ph.D. are a plus.
  • History of establishing successful business development relationships
Benefits

NewLimit offers generous benefits to ensure our team can focus on our mission:

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid parental leave
  • Industry-leading paid time off (PTO) — 20 days/year for all employees + holidays
  • Meals and snacks on-site

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. NewLimit offers a competitive benefits package, which includes a 401k, healthcare coverage, and 20 days of PTO.
