Albert helps chemists change the world by building technology that understands how they work. As chemists ourselves, we know what it’s like when software doesn’t work the way you do — stuck with systems built by people who never spent a day at the bench. That’s why we created Albert OS, the first AI-native operating system for materials science, designed to remove every obstacle between curiosity and discovery.

We are looking for an ambitious and results-driven Director of Platform, Product Management to join our growing team. This role, with a focus on owning the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Albert’s complete platform, will play a key part in building the foundation that makes Albert scalable, secure, reliable, easily administered and extensible for enterprise customers running business-critical R&D workflows.

If you are passionate about cutting-edge technology and thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, we want to hear from you.

What you'll do

Strategy & Delivery

  • Define and own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Albert’s platform — spanning Identity and Access Management, Integrations and Automations, Security, Admin interfaces and Search — ensuring the platform earns and sustains enterprise trust at scale.
  • Drive platform strategy with both near-term value and long-term scalability in mind, articulating and communicating tradeoffs clearly to internal stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Unlock enterprise and regulated markets by ensuring platform capabilities meet security, compliance, and administrative requirements — eliminating platform-level deal blockers that slow or prevent large enterprise adoption.

Execution & Collaboration

  • Partner closely with engineering, design, QA, and data teams to define and deliver robust, intuitive platform capabilities that meet the needs of enterprise customers and internal builders alike.
  • Engage directly with enterprise customers to uncover platform needs, validate solutions, and ensure Albert enables mission-critical workflows with confidence.
  • Align the platform roadmap with company objectives by working closely with other Product Managers, Customer Success, Sales, and Implementation teams to prioritize opportunities and manage tradeoffs.
  • Drive infrastructure cost efficiency and sustainable economics including maximizing platform reuse and standardization across Albert’s product surface.

Leadership & Impact

  • Serve as the company-wide authority on platform product — shaping how Albert plans, reviews, and ships platform capabilities, and establishing the operating rhythm for the Platform organization.
  • Lead go-to-market readiness for major platform launches, communicating priorities, feature releases, and change management across the company and partnering with customer-facing teams to drive successful rollouts and adoption.
  • Build and evolve the product management capability within the Platform organization, creating durable practices — roadmap planning, backlog management, cross-functional coordination — that scale with the business.

You will have

  • 8+ years of product management experience, with the majority focused on platform products in B2B SaaS or cloud environments, ideally from experience in vertical industry SaaS environments.
  • Strong technical foundation — comfortable working across APIs, backend systems, security platforms, and Identity and Access Management; able to partner credibly with senior engineering leaders and make informed platform tradeoffs.
  • Proven track record owning complex, large-scale platform initiatives with clear accountability for direction, roadmap, and outcomes.
  • Familiarity with enterprise authentication and authorization, security, compliance frameworks, and the requirements of large global SaaS deployments across multiple regions.
  • Experience working with modern data infrastructure, developer tools, SDKs, and extensibility platforms; familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Experience with AI-driven development practices and processes
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills across product, engineering, and go-to-market teams; able to translate complex enterprise requirements into simple, scalable, and adoptable product experiences.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to engage with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams and time zones.
  • Previous management experience is a plus.

Key competencies

Systems Thinking: Ability to visualize and design how platform components — identity, security, integrations, data substrate — connect and create compounding value across Albert’s entire product surface.

Grit: Self-starter and persistent problem solver; comfortable driving clarity and progress in complex, ambiguous platform environments with high organizational stakes.

Leadership: Ability to define the direction of a major functional area, align cross-functional stakeholders, and drive large-scale platform initiatives to completion with influence rather than authority.

Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering, security, infrastructure, compliance, and go-to-market teams toward shared outcomes.

Adaptability: Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-moving environment where enterprise requirements evolve and platform priorities shift with new customer and business context.

Innovator: Passionate about applying modern platform thinking — including AI-driven development and scalable architecture — to improve velocity, quality, and enterprise trust.

Why Albert?

We have a huge impact. Albert is a growing team with a global reach. We’re building toward a future where discovery feels like exploration, not administration. Where chemists can pursue their most ambitious ideas without friction.

We love our global team. Albert’s home-base is in the California Bay Area, but we have multiple offices and employees sprinkled around the globe: India, Germany and Japan. In fact, over 50% of our employees work outside of California. An international remote culture is in our DNA.

We care about you. Albert works hard to create a positive environment for our employees, and we think your life outside of work is important too. We work hard and we play hard.

We value diversity. Growing and maintaining our inclusive and diverse team matters to us. We are committed to being a company where our employees feel comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work and have the ability to be successful — every day.

We’re always looking for humble, sharp, and creative folks to join the Albert team. If you think you might be a fit, please apply.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
