About Bloom

Bloom Equity Partners is a New York-based lower-middle-market private equity firm investing in B2B enterprise software and business services companies. We partner closely with founders and management teams across multiple jurisdictions to drive measurable value creation throughout our hold period. Our Operating Team works alongside portfolio company leaders to professionalize commercial functions, build leadership bench, and accelerate sustainable growth.

The Opportunity

We're hiring a Director, Portfolio People Operations — a new role on Bloom's Operating Team. You'll own the execution layer of Bloom's people function across our portfolio: HR operations, benefits and total rewards, 401(k) and compliance, HRIS administration, multi-jurisdiction employment compliance, standardized employee onboarding, performance management operations, and HR support for M&A integrations.

This is a high-potential role designed for someone ready to step up. You'll work across RightCrowd, GRC Solutions, Soutron Global, and Black Tiger and you'll partner directly with our Operating Partner, People & Culture to elevate Bloom's people operations to the next level. The Operating Partner, P&C owns the strategy across people, benefits, HRIS, and compensation; you own the implementation and operations. You'll be developed actively as you grow into a broader scope.

Day one is real work. You will run a portfolio-wide benefits audit and put recurring controls in place across our HRIS environments. From there, you'll build the standardized benefits framework, compliance calendar, and M&A integration HR playbook that scales with the portfolio.

You'll leverage modern AI tooling (Claude, Scribe, the broader AI stack) as a force multiplier — compressing the timelines of compliance research, policy work, audit preparation, and employee communications. You'll report directly to our Operating Partner, People & Culture.

What You'll Do

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Administer and optimize HRIS systems across the portfolio — Rippling primarily, plus Deel, Paychex, and other portco-specific systems

  • Own multi-state and multi-jurisdiction employment compliance (US, UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, Japan, Canada, Australia)

  • Stay current on changing employment laws across jurisdictions, particularly termination and notice requirements

  • Maintain the firmwide compliance calendar — audits, filings, attestations, reporting deadlines

  • Lead annual compliance audits (401(k) Safe Harbor, ACA, payroll, benefits)

  • Assist portfolio company HR leaders with PIPs, termination execution, and employee relations documentation

Benefits & Total Rewards

  • Manage multi-state US benefits administration — medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA/HSA, voluntary benefits

  • Own 401(k) plan administration and ERISA compliance, including Safe Harbor management and EPCRS/VFCP corrections when needed

  • Lead open enrollment cycles across the portfolio — planning, communications, vendor coordination, employee support

  • Manage broker, carrier, and vendor relationships across benefits, retirement, and HRIS

  • Administer international benefits and statutory programs (UK pension, Irish PRSA, French social charges, Canadian RRSP, Australian superannuation)

Onboarding, Performance & Development Operations

  • Standardize employee onboarding across the portfolio — day-1 logistics, paperwork, HRIS setup, benefits enrollment, policy acknowledgments, equipment provisioning

  • Maintain the employee onboarding playbook and operating standards across portcos

  • Implement and operate performance management processes — annual review cycles, calibration logistics, documentation, system administration, metrics tracking

  • Partner with portfolio company leadership teams to roll out individual development plans, career path conversations, and growth planning

  • Coordinate with portfolio company HR leaders on onboarding, performance management, and development execution

M&A Integration HR Support

  • Lead day-1 readiness for new platform investments — payroll, benefits, HRIS, compliance

  • Execute bolt-on integration HR workstreams — TUPE transfers, employment harmonization, HRIS consolidation, benefits transitions

  • Provide HR diligence inputs to the deal team on new transactions

Bloom Internal People Operations

  • Partner with Bloom Recruiting on interview panels and candidate evaluation for Bloom team hires

  • Own the HR operations layer of new Bloom team member onboarding — HRIS setup, benefits enrollment, paperwork, day-1 logistics

  • Provide ongoing HR ops support to the Bloom team — benefits questions, policy clarifications, employee experience

AI & Tools

  • Use Claude, Scribe, and the broader AI stack as a force multiplier across compliance research, policy drafting, audit preparation, and employee communications

  • Build and maintain AI-leveraged workflows that make HR operations faster and more accurate than traditional approaches

What You'll Bring

  • 5–8 years of experience in HR operations, benefits, total rewards, or people operations

  • Currently in a Senior Manager, Manager, or senior HR/People Operations or Total Rewards role at a PE-backed B2B software or B2B services portfolio company — you understand sponsor rhythm, value creation pressure, and operating in an environment where ambiguity is the norm

  • Deep US benefits and 401(k) expertise — ERISA, Safe Harbor administration, EPCRS / VFCP correction protocols, ACA compliance, COBRA, FMLA, multi-state benefits administration

  • Rippling power user — you've owned Rippling configuration, troubleshooting, and reporting in a multi-entity environment

  • Audit and remediation experience — you've personally led or substantially contributed to a 401(k) or benefits compliance remediation

  • Multi-state US compliance fluency — employment law tracking, state-specific filings, multi-state payroll

  • Power user of AI tools — Claude, ChatGPT, or equivalent. You've demonstrably used AI to compress timelines on policy work, compliance research, or employee communications

  • Builder mindset — you're energized by ambiguous problems, you take ownership, and you're hungry for the step-up

  • Willingness to be in-office at Bloom's NYC HQ and to travel approximately 10–15% for portfolio company visits and operating team offsites

Bonus Points

  • Multi-jurisdiction experience beyond US — UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, Japan, Canada, Australia

  • M&A integration HR experience — TUPE transfers, HRIS consolidation, benefits harmonization

  • Experience with additional HRIS platforms — Deel, Paychex, BambooHR, ADP

  • CEBS, CBP, SHRM-CP/SCP, or PHR/SPHR credentials

  • Experience in identity security, GRC, or adjacent enterprise software verticals

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $145,000 – $175,000 USD (commensurate with experience)

In accordance with New York City Pay Transparency Law, the posted salary range reflects the good faith minimum and maximum base salary Bloom expects to pay for this position. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
