Director of Product Management
Remote (Full Time)

About Us

Zócalo Health is a tech-enabled, community-oriented primary care organization serving people who have historically been underserved by the one-size-fits-all healthcare system. We partner with health plans, providers, and community organizations to deliver culturally competent primary care, behavioral health, and social care.

Our model is built for populations with high medical and social complexity, where fragmented care drives poor outcomes and unnecessary cost. We combine local, community-based teams with virtual care and modern technology to deliver coordinated, whole-person care where members live and receive support.

Founded in 2021, Zócalo Health is backed by leading healthcare and mission-aligned investors and is scaling rapidly across states and populations. We are building a durable care platform designed to perform in constrained healthcare environments and to help lead the shift toward accountable, value-based care.

Role Description
The Director of Product Management will join Zócalo Health during a period of rapid growth and increasing operational complexity. This role exists to help scale and execute a community-oriented primary care model that delivers measurable outcomes for high-need members and health plan partners.

As part of a fast-growing Product and Engineering organization, you will lead product managers across care operations, data and reporting, and platform workflows, helping strengthen how product translates business and operational complexity into clear priorities, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes. You will raise the quality bar on how product defines problems, prioritizes work, measures impact, and drives cross-functional decision-making, while shaping domain-level product direction and informing company-level strategic tradeoffs needed as Zócalo scales across markets, workflows, and health plan requirements.

This position reports to the VP of Product.

The Director of Product Management will contribute in the following ways:

  • Operate within a multi-domain product organization, where each Director owns a distinct area of the product while collaborating closely on cross-domain dependencies and shared outcomes.
  • Lead and develop a team of product managers, raising the bar on problem framing, prioritization, metric definition, stakeholder management, and product judgment
  • Own the roadmap for your product domain (e.g., Care Operations or Data & Platform), translating company strategy into a clear 1–2 year direction and quarterly priorities. Partner with the VP of Product to align domain strategy with company-wide priorities and long-term product direction.
  • Own outcomes for your product domain, ensuring roadmap decisions translate into measurable improvements in business performance, care delivery, and operational efficiency.
  • Guide product managers in translating domain strategy into clear quarterly plans, success metrics, and execution priorities.
  • Improve the operating cadence between product and engineering, helping teams plan effectively, escalate risk early, and manage tradeoffs clearly.
  • Ensure product investments are tied to measurable business outcomes, including care team efficiency, reporting reliability, operational leverage, member experience, and revenue-impacting workflows.
  • Improve cross-functional decision-making so product work moves faster, with clearer ownership, fewer escalations, and stronger alignment across product, engineering, operations, and clinical leadership.
  • Coach PMs to lead their domains strategically, not just executionally, including identifying opportunities to simplify workflows, reduce manual work, and create more scalable product solutions.
  • Help build a stronger product organization by shaping team standards, ways of working, and expectations for what strong product management looks like at Zócalo.

Qualifications

  • 9-10+ years of product management experience, with at least 3 years directly managing other product managers
  • Experience building workflow-driven, operations-heavy, or systems-oriented products in healthcare or value-based care
  • Strong track record of turning messy business and operational processes into product roadmaps, decisions, and shipped solutions that improve outcomes
  • Experience partnering closely with engineering on sequencing, tradeoffs, and delivery in technically complex environments
  • Ability to connect product decisions to measurable business outcomes such as efficiency, reporting reliability, quality, cost reduction, or revenue impact
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills and comfort working with executives, operators, clinical teams, and field-facing teams in addition to engineers and designers
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity with incomplete data, imperfect tooling, and fast-changing priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in value-based care, Medicaid, Medicare, care operations, population health, or clinical workflow products
  • Experience working with EHR systems, care coordination platforms, payer reporting workflows, or other operational healthcare systems
  • Startup or growth-stage experience where you helped build product infrastructure, team norms, and operating mechanisms rather than only inheriting them
  • Experience balancing new product investment with maintenance, technical debt, operational reliability, and cross-functional change management
  • Proficiency using AI tools to improve product and engineering workflows, including requirements development, planning, analysis, and delivery support
What you can expect from Zócalo Health
  • Equity compensation package
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision
  • 401k
  • Flexible PTO policy - take the time you need to recharge
  • $1,000 home office stipend
  • We provide the equipment needed for this role
  • Opportunity for rapid career progression with plenty of room for personal growth

You must be authorized to work in the United States. Remote work can be done from anywhere in the U.S.
