Director of Product Management – Risk-Based Vulnerability Management - VMDR
Location: Foster City, California (Min 3 days mandatory in office)
The Position
Qualys is seeking an experienced director of product management for VMDR, its flagship Ris-Based Vulnerability Management solution. The ideal candidate will have complete 360-degree ownership of VMDR, and ecosystems of products such as Threat Intel, Certificate Lifecycle Management (CLM) end to end, with both inbound and outbound product management responsibilities.

You are expected to be a subject matter expert in Risk-based Vulnerability management, its ecosystem such as Attack Surface Management, Exposure Management and Remediation, and its emerging security needs. You will work closely with team members to align product roadmap plans with customer requirements within both the private sector and federal and government space.
What You Will Be Doing
Product Ownership: VMDR – Vulnerability Management, Detection and Response – RBVM

People/Team Ownership – Lead a team of 4-5 product managers and product analysts.

Key Metrics for Success:

  • Development and delivery of a cohesive multi-year product vision aligned with AI, Exposure management, cloud, and platform expansion
  • Measurable business impact through new product initiatives, customer adoption, and cross-sell opportunities
  • Build and drive GTM product strategy to acquire the new logo using flagship VMDR products to the market—driving prospects, existing customer confidence and analyst support
  • Deliver the strong retention and engagement across the product and design team, with a high bar for talent and execution
  • Positive influence on market perception and analyst sentiment, reflected in increased coverage, improved positioning, and industry recognition

Business Ownership and Responsibilities
 

  • Be the ‘Business Owner’ of product and constantly think about how to grow the revenue, every feature being prioritized and shipped, think about monetization.
  • Do the regular business analysis of the product’s revenue and understand and report on various metric such as cross-sell, up-sell, expansion, renewal and come up with business plan to improve on each of the metric and present to leadership team
  • Pipeline and Lead Generation -come up with campaign ideas to generate the leads for the business and execute the plan to convert pipeline to close won.
  • Pricing and Packaging – evaluate various monetization options including freemium, premium and packaging with other Qualys products etc. to drive the customer adoption and revenue growth
  • Product-led-growth (PLG) / Product-Led-Sales (Sales) – Come up with new ideas to drive PLG/PLS sales motion to build and drive Pipeline – be innovative and think about the various digital marketing and demand gen campaign to manage leads – acquire, nurture and convert them to paid customers

Outbound Product Management Responsibilities:
 

  • Develop sales enablement collateral including customer product presentations decks and demo scripts for RBVM, Exposure Management and market
  • Developing solid GTM messaging and product positioning
  • Research the competitive landscape, determine how competitors are positioned and develop optimized positioning strategies and support documents for the RBVM, Exposure Management product. Educate the sales team on how to address competitors in the field.
  • Be an expert in explaining the product to sales and be involved with use case and value based demos and presentations to customers.
  • Foster strong relationships with customers to gather feedback, understand pain points, and translate insights into product requirements.
  • Design, deliver and train the Qualys Sales Team on value-based demonstration of our products

Inbound Product Management Responsibilities:

  • Complete 360-degree ownership of VMDR and its ecosystems product line.
  • Define, evangelize, and maintain the strategy, vision, and execution including GTM strategy.
  • Bring new ideas for introducing Agentic AI workflow for the various analyst use cases.
  • Contribute to running a cross-functional team (Product Management, UX, Engineering, Sales).
  • Establish relationships with customers and use their input to distill the many requests into a roadmap that achieves maximum impact.

What We Need from You
 

  • Significant experience in Risk-based Vulnerability Management, Attack Surface Management, Exposure Management and Remediation platforms, threat Intel, Certificate Lifecycle Management (CLM).
  • 5+ years of experience in product management or 8+ years of experience in technical leadership, solution architecture, or pre-sales engineering, with a focus on cloud security products and solutions.
  • 3+ years in product management for Vulnerability Management and Remediation, and its ecosystems of products and market is mandatory.
  • 2+ years of experience in leading, mentoring and coaching a small team of 4-5 product managers and analyst to drive the product roadmap execution.
  • Good understating Risk reduction domain of Cyber Security Patch Management, Mitigation and compensating control.
  • Nice to have a understanding of adjacent areas of EDR, CNAPP, Attack Surface Management and Exposure Management.
  • Exhibitable sales and marketing experience in the form of creating technical documentation and/or speakership appearances.
  • Passionate about trying out new ideas to promote the product, testing hypotheses, and making data-driven decisions to correct course.
  • Proven ability to effectively articulate and showcase technology for different use-cases, and to other types of audiences within the federal space.
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, or engineering; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.

The salary range for this position is $175,000 - $200,000 per year. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to skills, relevant experience, and work location. Please note this range reflects base salary and does not include incentive compensation or potential equity grants. We also offer a comprehensive and highly competitive benefits package.
