Own product-market fit, positioning, messaging, and major product launches for Voltus’s distributed energy resource platform. Partner closely with product, engineering, and sales to incorporate customer insights, enable sellers, and translate complex energy technology into clear messaging for broad B2B audiences. The role begins as an individual contributor and may grow into leadership of a small product marketing team. Travel is required for events, conferences, and sales meetings, with flexibility across U.S. time zones.

Voltus is the leading DER technology platform and virtual power plant operator connecting distributed energy resources to electricity markets, delivering less expensive, more reliable, and more sustainable electricity. Our commercial and industrial customers and DER partners generate cash by allowing Voltus to maximize the value of their flexible load, distributed generation, energy storage, energy efficiency, and electric vehicle resources in these markets.

Position Description

Voltus is seeking a Director of Product Marketing to own product-market fit for our platform. You'll sit close to the product organization, help shape our roadmap, and bring customer and market insight directly into product decisions. You'll own positioning and lead features from idea through launch, focusing on major product launches rather than day-to-day campaign execution.

You'll start as an individual contributor with the opportunity to build and lead a small product marketing team as the function grows.

The ideal candidate has deep experience in the energy space, ideally B2B, and has marketed to a broad, non-technical buyer base similar to our commercial and industrial customers. You're comfortable getting into the details with product and engineering, and just as skilled at translating that complexity into language a broad, non-expert audience can understand. You use AI tools to extend your own output and move faster.

Responsibilities

  • Own product-market fit: embed with the product organization, understand the roadmap, and represent the voice of the customer and market in product decisions
  • Build and own core product positioning and messaging
  • Build a repeatable launch playbook and lead launches for major product features, end to end
  • Partner with sales to enable the team on new products and positioning
  • Translate complex product and market detail into clear, compelling stories for a broad audience
  • Use AI tools to increase your own output and move quickly
  • Build and lead a small product marketing team as the function grows

Skills

  • Experience in the energy space strongly preferred, B2B background required
  • Experience marketing to a broad, non-technical buyer base similar to commercial and industrial customers
  • Proven track record building product positioning, launch playbooks, and sales enablement
  • Strong storytelling and positioning skills; able to simplify complexity for a non-expert audience
  • Comfortable directing AI tools to increase personal output and productivity
  • Ready to operate as an individual contributor now, with the ability to build and lead a team over time
  • Comfortable working across US time zones and traveling for events, conferences, and sales meetings

Please note that at this time, we do not sponsor visas or transfers for new hires. Voltus teammates need to be authorized to work from their home location (in the US or Canada, unless otherwise indicated on the role description).

Additionally, while Voltus is an all-remote workplace, we have limitations on where employees are able to work for regulatory and security reasons. We expect that Voltans are working primarily from their home country. Working while traveling to other countries must be approved as per our Global Remote Travel Policy.

At Voltus, we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer because we recognize that a diverse organization begins with a diverse candidate pool. This means we do not tolerate discrimination of any kind and are committed to providing equal employment opportunities regardless of your gender identity, race, nationality, religion, age, sexual orientation, veteran status, disability status, or marital status.
