As a Director of Product Marketing, you will play a pivotal role in helping our teams achieve outcomes tied to the organization's most complex and strategic work. This is your chance to define and deliver outcomes with significant impact, including being directly involved in driving the strategy and execution for a portfolio of high-impact initiatives.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Head of Product Marketing, you will work with leaders across Product, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing to build go-to-market (GTM) strategies and successfully lead cross-functional initiatives. You will act as a key partner to senior leadership and the executive team to influence and drive complex decisions and evaluate trade-offs across the company.
The ideal candidate is based in our Bay Area or New York City hub locations. Flexible or remote options within the United States will be considered for the right candidate.
What You'll Do- Define Strategy: Own and define the end-to-end product marketing strategy for an established product portfolio and new, high-growth business areas, including top-level platform narratives
- Lead High-Impact GTM: Develop strong, data-driven opinions and provide clear guidance to your team and the broader organization on all aspects of GTM strategy, including positioning, messaging, personas (user and buyer), sales enablement, and launch execution
- Solve the Hardest Problems: Identify, prioritize, and decompose intrinsically hard problems. You will proactively identify gaps and opportunities, pressure-test strategic assumptions, and create the correct sense of urgency to deliver results
- Influence Executive Leadership: Act as a key partner to senior leadership. You will be expected to clearly present solutions to complex problems, help leaders understand their options, and drive alignment across business units
- Build Scalable Mechanisms: Create, optimize, and drive the adoption of critical mechanisms and processes that ensure your programs are successful in the long term, enabling other teams to work more independently and effectively
- Mentor and Amplify: Serve as a role model and bar raiser for the entire Product Marketing organization. You will amplify your impact by educating others on leadership and best practices while actively guiding the career growth of your direct and indirect reports
- Proven experience in product marketing, preferably in B2B technology, cloud, or enterprise software, with a strong track record of success
- A demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, where you are given a high-level business outcome to achieve, and trusted to develop the strategy from scratch
- Proven ability to bring strong, data-driven business and strategic judgment to decisions, with a keen ability to assess risk and drive clarity
- Consensus-building and high-bar communication (both verbal and written), capable of managing cross-functional leaders and influencing priorities at all levels of the organization. You should be excited to deliver your perspectives and progress to the executive team
- Deep understanding of the fundamentals of technology (ideally databases, cloud infrastructure, the developer landscape, and how they are connected to new technologies like generative AI) and can effectively connect a broad portfolio to its business impact. This role is not expected to be a technical practitioner, but must develop the technical depth necessary to effectively market MongoDB’s offerings and communicate with practitioners
- Genuine empathy for customer challenges and pain points, with the ability to understand the common use cases and implementation specifics that customers are facing
- A strong bias for action and the ability to decompose complex problems into effective solutions and drive execution across multiple organizations
- Excellent judgment when driving and/or resolving executive-level escalations
- Ability to effectively represent the company as a MongoDB spokesperson and subject matter expert with a broad range of external audiences, including in executive-level customer calls, analyst briefings, and public appearances
