Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for a Product Marketing Director to be a key piece of the marketing organization. This role will ensure we build out the materials and tactics to support our expanding business. With each new product launch or partnership, our sales team requires a suite of promotional materials and thoughtful content that drives awareness, understanding, and intent. A successful candidate will be charged with the ideation and creation of these materials, along with engaging marketing programs that inspire our target audience and ultimately increase revenue. 

An ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of the financial services market, including an understanding of the retirement plan space, and how to best introduce new products to key constituents. They also have experience leading a team to proven results. S/he should have an excellent command of the written word and a solid understanding of the techniques needed to create a marketing communication sequence that leads to sales. Perhaps more importantly, all candidates should count detail oriented, articulate, efficient, and creative amongst their most valuable assets. Last, but certainly not least, the person we hire must embody an entrepreneurial spirit and be driven by the fast paced, challenging, and collaborative environment of a growing start-up.


What Will You Be Doing?

Day-to-day you will be expected to:

  • Strategize on priority focus areas that can make biggest positive impact
  • Developing new product positioning to effectively articulate and differentiate our value proposition 
  • Ensure direct reports are aligned to deliver on broader marketing and company objectives
  • Strategizing and planning the launch of new products and working cross-functionally for a coordinated effort
  • Building the tools and tactics needed to effectively introduce new products and partnerships to market through tools such as presentations, collateral, and internal communications
  • Collaborating with marketing team to successfully communicate releases and drive demand generation around new product development
  • Supporting sales through trainings and enablement tools that foster a deep understanding of what they’re selling
  • Develop strong market intelligence so that you understand the market and buyer behavior through sales insight, market research and competitive analysis. Bring relevant information to the appropriate product, sales and leadership teams

Requirements

The Necessities:

  • 7+ years of B2B product marketing experience
  • Experience managing and leading a team
  • A deep understanding of the financial services industry and retirement plan market
  • Experience in branding, communications strategy, partnerships, and product development
  • A constant drive to improve middle-of-the-funnel lead generation 
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • A demonstrated start-up mentality with the ability to operate in a collaborative team environment and adapt effectively to changing business priorities/strategies
  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks, adapt to changing needs, and tackle new challenges daily!

This role will be based in the New York City office, and will be part of Vestwell's hybrid in-office operation.
The expected base salary range for this position is $120K - $165K base. This position is eligible to participate in the Company Bonus Pool and is eligible to receive new hire equity in the Company. Please note that salary bands are based on NY and other similar metro areas and may differ based on where the role is ultimately hired.

Our interview process starts the same for every candidate with 1-2 introductory conversations to learn more about your background, interests, and what you're looking for, while also giving you the opportunity to learn more about Vestwell and the team. From there, the process varies by role but typically includes a skills or experience-based assessment, such as a coding interview, portfolio review, or deeper discussion of your relevant experience. Successful candidates then move on to a virtual or in-person interview panel. Before extending an offer, we complete a reference check with a current or former manager and a peer. Throughout the process, we prioritize transparency, clear communication, and minimizing surprises.
