We are seeking an exceptional Director, Product Owner (DPO) to build and lead the Insurance Professional Product Owner team within Direct Distribution - a critical growth engine for Liberty Mutual.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Direct Distribution at a pivotal time as we continue to advance the products and experiences that support our sales professionals. You'll help shape the future of our sales ecosystem while partnering across the enterprise to deliver meaningful business outcomes.
As a DPO, you'll lead the team responsible for the products and experiences used by our sales professionals every day. Partnering across Product, Technology, Analytics, and Operations, you'll translate business strategy into product execution-building the capabilities that improve customer and sales professional experiences while driving measurable business results.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Key Responsibilities:
- Translate business strategy into product outcomes: Convert Direct Distribution priorities into clear product strategies, roadmaps, and OKRs that drive growth, improve customer and sales professional experiences, and deliver measurable business value.
- Shape the future sales ecosystem: Define the long-term product strategy for the insurance professional portfolio by evaluating build-versus-buy opportunities, influencing technology investment decisions, and managing a portfolio of capabilities across various stages of the product lifecycle to ensure the organization continues to scale and evolve.
- Lead through ambiguity: Bring structure, clarity, and alignment to complex business problems while enabling teams to move quickly in an evolving environment.
- Balance strategy and execution: Operate effectively at both the strategic and tactical levels-setting long-term direction while engaging deeply with teams when needed to remove obstacles and accelerate outcomes.
- Drive cross-functional execution: Leverage strong program leadership capabilities to lead complex programs across Product, Technology, Experience, Analytics, and Operations, ensuring execution remains aligned to business priorities.
- Develop domain expertise: Rapidly build a deep understanding of Direct Distribution, customer journeys, sales workflows, and business economics to make informed product decisions and challenge assumptions.
- Champion customer-centered product development: Build empathy for sales professionals, customers, and prospects to create intuitive experiences that reduce friction, improve conversion, and strengthen customer relationships.
- Collaborate with enterprise and platform product teams to ensure alignment and leverage shared capabilities: Work closely with Product Owner teams responsible for enterprise capabilities (e.g., telephony, IVR, AI, and shared platforms) to align roadmaps, influence priorities, and deliver seamless end-to-end customer and sales professional experiences.
- Measure what matters: Establish outcome-oriented metrics and continuously evaluate product performance to ensure investments are delivering measurable business value.
- Advanced knowledge product management, Agile development methodologies, and experience in organizational change management as typically acquired through a Bachelors` degree in relevant field (business, computer science, etc)and a minimum of 10 years` experience in product development, business, marketing, technology, and/or consulting
- Master`s degree preferred
- High level of proven business expertise needed to set clear priorities for product and understand business value impacts across an entire business unit
- High level of proven outcomes managing and mentoring product managers, product owners, and people leaders
- Technical proficiency required to participate in program increment planning and have an informed, independent voice
- Strong influencing and leadership skills in order to be seen as the decision maker when interfacing with business, and willingness to dissent with both teams and business
- Proven experience with Agile practices and expectations
- Comfortable with making decisions with some level of uncertainty
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, both written and verbal
- Encourages non-hierarchical culture
