The North America West Region Sales Leader will be an integral part of the Genetic Sciences leadership team, reporting to the Sr. Director, Commercial, North America. This individual will lead all aspects of a multi-functional team of managers across the Western US and will work collaboratively with various commercial, marketing, R&D and functional leaders to achieve annual sales plans.
This sales leader will be involved in developing and operationalizing the annual sales strategy for our sample pre, qPCR/dPCR, Sequencing and Microarray products in the assigned region. They will work closely with the East Region, Inside Sales, Clinical Sales, and Technical Sales Specialist leaders to ensure strategic alignment and consistency in implementation and execution. Additional alignment with key stakeholders in both regional market development and division leadership to effectively collaborate on adjusting plans and go to market strategies in line with achieving the division’s overall business plans in a dynamic environment will be critical.

What will you do?
- Develop a sales strategy for the core Genetic Analysis sales teams in line with the division’s overall business plan.
- Lead the sales teams by inspiring and coaching sales managers, aligning on sales performance and revenue targets, and using metrics to monitor performance.
- A successful candidate will champion the use of SFDC and use data driven analytics to drive commercial execution and performance.
- Develop and maintain excellent knowledge of the Genetic Analysis platforms, applications, and workflows, markets, and customer buying practices required to effectively compete in the market and grow the business.
- Communicate a clear message to motivate and enhance performance from the team
- Establishes and maintains effective communication with strategically important customer executives and managers, representing the GS North America organization externally and internally.
- Understand the market and find opportunities for future growth, being considered an expert and a key influencer to commercial leaders to meaningfully impact our commercial strategy, execution and/or decision-making.
- Regularly monitors customers’ needs and uses extensive knowledge of customer activities and genetic analysis solutions to ensure needs are understood by commercial teams and division.
- Develop sales professionals, attracting and empowering the right talent and driving employee engagement, helping to build a reputation of best place to work for applicants who want to further develop their commercial career in the biotech industry.
- Deliver an accurate quarterly forecast, being accountable to the division management and rest of North America commercial leaders for submitted numbers.
How will you get here?
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Biological Sciences. Master’s or higher degree beneficial, but not required.
- A minimum of 5-10 years of experience leading commercial teams, with a successful track record of leading and growing a sales organization.
- Excellent technical knowledge of genetic analysis platforms (dPCR, qPCR, Microarray, Sequencing, Sample Prep)
- Sales experience in the Life Science capital equipment market selling to Academic, Government, Industrial and Healthcare customers
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in a large and complex organization in a biotech industry preferred.
- Outstanding leadership and sales management capabilities.
- Strong personal character coupled with a driven focus on the customer, a broad business sense and insightfulness, plus vital proficiencies essential to navigating complex and dynamic market conditions.
- Decisive business leader that will thrive in a fast-paced business culture.
- Demonstrated ability to identify commercial opportunities and develop ambitious and innovative sales strategies to capitalize on those opportunities.
- Ability to think clearly and critically, articulate a vision, and inspire others to follow.
- Risk-taker who is willing and able to make dispassionate and objective decisions based on hard data as well as soft data.
- Excellent presentation and communications skills; ability to assimilate complex concepts and clearly articulate business value.
