Job Summary:

Exos is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Sports Media, PR & Social to lead all forms of media and storytelling efforts across our Sport business. This role will be responsible for generating qualified leads for the Sport business by elevating the visibility, authority, reputation, and influence of Exos within the sports performance industry. Tactics will include integrated earned media, athlete storytelling, social media, strategic partnerships, and press for relevant business activities and achievements. As the marketing leader for Exos Sport, this individual will develop and execute strategies that amplify our work across elite sports, Sport and Methodology education, Exos Performance Centers, and Exos Tactical business while positioning Exos as the global leader and authority in human performance. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of the sports media landscape, proven experience building relationships with athletes, sports teams/leagues, sports media, and industry influencers. The person excelling in this role has a passion for creating compelling content that drives brand awareness, new client leads and overall business impact. This role will report to the President of Sport and work closely with Exos Sport leaders and the broader Exos creative, content, social media, communications, partnerships, and agency peers across the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

SPORTS MEDIA STRATEGY

  • Develop and execute an integrated marketing and media strategy that supports Exos Sport business objectives, product launches, thought leadership, and revenue growth.

  • Serve as the strategic marketing lead across Elite Sports, Education, Performance Centers, and Tactical business lines.

  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities to elevate Exos' profile through earned media, executive visibility, athlete stories, and industry thought leadership.

  • Build annual media plans aligned to key business priorities, partnerships, milestone/new product moments, and organizational initiatives.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders on media strategy, messaging, media opportunities, and reputation management.

PUBLIC RELATIONS & EARNED MEDIA

  • Lead all sports-related public relations efforts, including proactive media outreach, story development, media pitching, and press management.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key sports, business, health, fitness, and performance media outlets.

  • Manage external PR agency partners and oversee performance against agreed-upon objectives and KPIs.

  • Identify and secure media opportunities that elevate Exos experts, coaches, athletes, and executives.

  • Oversee media monitoring, reporting, and measurement of earned media impact.

  • Develop communications strategies and response plans for sensitive issues, crisis communications, and reputation management scenarios.

SOCIAL MEDIA & CONTENT LEADERSHIP

  • Lead social media strategy for Exos Sports, ensuring content supports business objectives, audience growth, engagement, and brand positioning.

  • Collaborate with creative, video, and marketing teams to develop compelling athlete, coach, partner, and performance-focused content.

  • Oversee social media content planning, publishing, community engagement, and performance measurement.

  • Ensure consistent brand voice, storytelling, and content quality across all sports-related social channels.

  • Identify emerging platforms, content formats, and cultural trends that create opportunities for audience growth and engagement.

ATHLETE, PARTNER & INDUSTRY STORYTELLING

  • Develop integrated storytelling strategies around athlete success stories, combine preparation, performance breakthroughs, partnerships, and educational programs.

  • Lead communications planning for key partnerships including professional sports organizations, leagues, brands, and industry collaborators.

  • Collaborate with business leaders to uncover and amplify stories that showcase Exos' expertise, innovation, and impact.

  • Build relationships with athletes, agents, partners, influencers, and industry stakeholders to strengthen brand advocacy and visibility.

NFL COMBINE & MARQUEE EVENTS

  • Own annual communications, media, and social media strategy for the Exos NFL Combine program that promote and elevate our voice in the industry. 

  • Develop year-over-year campaign strategies, KPIs, and measurement frameworks for Combine-related marketing and communications efforts.

  • Manage media requests, athlete interview coordination, press coverage, content creation, and social media execution surrounding Combine activities.

  • Lead communications planning and execution for key industry events, conferences, educational programs, and performance showcases.

ANALYTICS & PERFORMANCE

  • Establish communications, media, and social media KPIs aligned to business objectives.

  • Track and report performance across earned media, social media, audience growth, engagement, share of voice, sentiment, and campaign effectiveness.

  • Utilize data and insights to continuously optimize communications strategies and storytelling approaches.

  • Provide regular reporting and strategic recommendations to marketing and business leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, or related field.

  • 8+ years of experience leading sports media, public relations, social media, and/or integrated marketing programs.

  • Highly connected within the sports media and performance industry ecosystem

  • Proven track record developing and executing successful media strategies within sports, fitness, health, performance, or lifestyle industries.

  • Experience managing PR agencies, external partners, and cross-functional stakeholder groups.

  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, media relations, and communication skills.

  • Experience managing social media strategy, content development, and performance reporting.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple high-profile initiatives simultaneously.

PREFERRED

  • Experience working with professional athletes, teams, leagues, agents, or sports performance organizations.

  • Deep understanding of the sports media ecosystem and evolving digital content landscape.

  • Experience supporting executive thought leadership and personal brand development.

  • Familiarity with media monitoring, social listening, and analytics platforms.

  • Passion for human performance, sports science, coaching, fitness, and athlete development.

Per pay transparency requirements, the compensation for this position ranges from $115,000 - $135,000/year. Minimum rates may vary based on local wage laws. Pay is dependent on factors including site location, specialty, certifications and work experience as well as other business needs. Exos offers a comprehensive benefits package for all full time employees (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements), which includes health insurance, life and disability benefits, 401(k) plan, and paid time off. Additionally, Exos offers a variety of part time benefits (subject to eligibility requirements).
