Job Description:

Role Summary

The Director / Sr Business Transformation Manager – Finance & Accounting Track will lead the end-to-end design and execution of the Project Phoenix Finance workstream, with primary focus on Record-to-Report (R2R), Acquire-to-Retire (A2R), and Tax processes.

This role is accountable for driving a scalable global design, leading cross-functional teams, and ensuring that new ERP-enabled processes deliver control, compliance, transparency, and efficiency across the Finance & Accounting landscape.

Key Responsibilities1. Strategy & Transformation Leadership
  • Lead the Finance & Accounting track for Project Phoenix across R2R, A2R, and Tax, from design through deployment and stabilization.

  • Define and maintain the target operating model for Finance in these areas, aligned with corporate strategy and Finance leadership priorities.

  • Translate strategic objectives into a phased roadmap with clear milestones, dependencies, and benefits for the Phoenix program.

  • Act as primary thought partner to Finance Leadership (Controller, Tax, FP&A, Operations Finance) on process, controls, and organizational implications.

2. Process Design & Global Template Ownership
  • Own the global process design and ERP process template for:

R2R: GL, sub-ledgers, consolidations, intercompany, allocations, close & reporting.

A2R: Fixed assets lifecycle, capitalization policies, impairments, disposals, leases (if in scope).

Tax: Direct and indirect tax configuration, tax determination, compliance and reporting (in coordination with Corporate Tax).

  • Facilitate design workshops and decision forums; reconcile regional requirements into a standardized global design with clearly documented local deviations.

  • Ensure process designs embed strong internal controls, auditability, and SOX readiness, and support accurate, timely financial reporting.

  • Partner with IT/ERP teams to translate process requirements into system configuration, data models, and integration requirements.

3. Program Management & Delivery
  • Own scope, schedule, and delivery quality for the Finance & Accounting Phoenix workstream.

  • Build and manage a cross-functional track team (Finance SMEs, IT, data, change management, external partners).

  • Drive fit-gap analysis, solution design, testing (SIT/UAT), cutover, and hypercare for R2R, A2R, and Tax.

  • Proactively identify and manage risks, issues, and dependencies across other workstreams (P2P, O2C, S&OP, FP&A, etc.).

  • Provide clear, data-backed status reporting and decision-ready materials to the Phoenix PMO and Finance leadership.

4. Data, Controls & Reporting Enablement
  • Define data requirements (chart of accounts, cost centers, legal entities, asset classes, tax codes, etc.) and partner with Data & IT teams to ensure quality migration.

  • Align financial structures (CoA, segment definitions, reporting hierarchies) to support management reporting, statutory reporting, and tax compliance.

  • Ensure process and system design support strong financial controls, including reconciliations, approvals, segregation of duties, and audit trails.

  • Partner with FP&A and Operations Finance to ensure that R2R/A2R/Tax design supports forecasting, analytics, and performance management needs.

5. Change Management & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as the change leader for Finance stakeholders impacted by R2R, A2R, and Tax changes.

  • Define new roles, responsibilities, and handoffs across global, regional, and local Finance teams.

  • Develop and drive training, communications, and adoption plans to ensure smooth transition to new processes and tools.

  • Build strong working relationships with regional Controllers, Tax leads, and Business Unit Finance to secure alignment and commitment.

6. Benefits Realization & Continuous Improvement
  • Define and track KPIs and value targets (e.g., close cycle time, manual journal volume, automation rates, asset cycle time, tax compliance timeliness/accuracy).

  • Ensure that Phoenix delivers measurable improvements in control, efficiency, and transparency for Finance & Accounting.

  • Establish a post-go-live continuous improvement backlog and governance model for enhancements and optimization.

Key QualificationsEducation & Professional Background
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required; MBA, CPA, or equivalent strongly preferred.

  • 10–15+ years of progressive experience in Finance & Accounting, with significant exposure to:

    Record-to-Report and general accounting/controllership.

    Fixed assets / A2R and capital projects/accounting.

Tax (direct/indirect) in partnership with corporate tax teams.

  • 5+ years of leading Finance transformation and/or ERP implementations (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent) across multiple regions or business units.

  • Proven experience in a program/track leadership role on a large-scale Finance transformation or ERP program.

Technical & Functional Skills
  • Deep understanding of R2R, A2R, and Tax processes, accounting policies, and control frameworks.

  • Strong familiarity with ERP Finance modules, including GL, FA, Tax, and consolidation tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement global templates, balancing standardization with local statutory/tax requirements.

  • Experience with data migration, CoA redesign, and reporting structures in an ERP context.

  • Strong financial controls mindset, including SOX, audit, and compliance considerations.

Leadership & Behavioral Competencies
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional, global teams through complex change.

  • Strong executive communication skills; able to present complex topics in a clear, concise, decision-oriented manner.

  • Highly results-driven, with a track record of delivering on time and within scope in a program environment.

  • Ability to challenge status quo constructively and drive alignment among diverse stakeholders.

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
