Director of Strategic Finance

San Francisco HQ · Full-time · On-site · $230 – $275K · Offers Equity
The Role
Triumph builds skill gaming and digital collectibles experiences — Arcade and Rips — that reach millions of users and run on financial rails handling billions in volume. The business has scaled quickly, and our planning and analysis now need to scale with it.
We're hiring our first dedicated Director of Strategic Finance to build Triumph's budgeting, forecasting and planning function from the ground up. Reporting to the CFO, you'll partner with leadership to turn growth into a plan, give every team the numbers behind its decisions, and put in place the processes a company at our scale needs. The first hire will be an analyst, with room to grow the team from there.
This role suits a hands-on finance operator who wants real ownership, moves fast, understands how to best leverage AI and would rather build the model than wait for one.
What You'll Do

  • Build the planning process. Design and run Triumph's first annual operating plan and budget, from top-down targets to team-level budgets. Set the planning calendar and make budget ownership clear.

  • Own the forecast. Stand up a rolling forecast and the company's 12–24 month outlook. Build and maintain the three-statement model, with scenarios for growth, spend and new products. Maintain a cash forecast that separates operating cash from player balances and processor reserves.

  • Own unit economics. Define and track the metrics the plan is built on, including LTV/CAC, cohort retention, payer conversion, ARPU and take rate, and partner with our data team to keep them reliable and current.

  • Plan headcount. Partner with Talent and team leads to tie hiring plans to budget and track them against actuals.

  • Turn numbers into decisions. Deliver monthly budget-vs-actual reporting with clear variance explanations. Analyze margins, marketing spend and new initiatives across Arcade and Rips.

  • Partner with leadership. Work with the CFO, CEO and leaders across Product, Growth, Operations and Engineering on resource allocation and trade-offs. Prepare board and investor financial updates.

  • Build finance infrastructure. Choose and implement planning tools, connect them to our data, and replace manual spreadsheet workflows with repeatable processes. Partner with Accounting so actuals are accurate, timely and decision-ready.

  • Build the team. Hire and develop an analyst first, then grow Strategic Finance as Triumph scales.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in FP&A, strategic finance, investment banking, or similar, including 2+ years leading strategic planning processes.

  • Experience at a high-growth company, ideally through the shift from startup to scale.

  • A track record of building finance processes from scratch, not just running existing ones.

  • Expert financial modeling: three-statement models, forecasting and scenario planning.

  • Strong accounting fundamentals (GAAP, P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).

  • Strong skills in software and data — you learn new systems quickly, are comfortable in SQL or BI tools, and look for ways to automate repetitive work.

  • Hands-on experience using AI in budgeting and forecasting — for example, to build and maintain models, automate variance analysis and reporting, or improve forecast accuracy.

  • Strong presentation skills — comfortable leading monthly business reviews with cross functional teams and management, and presenting to the executive team and board.

  • Sound judgment and the ability to influence leaders who don't report to you.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in consumer apps, gaming, e-commerce, marketplaces or fintech, and their key metrics.

  • Hands-on implementation of a planning tool (e.g. Pigment, Anaplan, Adaptive, Mosaic) or BI tool, ideally connected to a cloud data warehouse such as BigQuery

  • MBA, CPA or CFA.

  • Experience hiring and managing a finance team.

Why Triumph?

  • High growth. Help scale a consumer platform that touches gaming, finance and collectibles, with both apps #1 in their App Store categories.

  • High agency. Build Strategic Finance from the ground up, with direct visibility to the CFO, CEO and board.

  • High energy. Join a passionate team of ex-quant traders, ex-founders, artists and champions who are proud of their work and velocity.

  • Competitive salary and benefits. Equity, $400/mo lunch credit, healthcare, vision, dental, 401k and more.

Our team gathers 5 days a week at Triumph's headquarters at Levi's Plaza in San Francisco.
