Our mission at Ansa Biotechnologies is to revolutionize the way we make DNA. Compared to
reading or editing life’s code, writing new code from scratch has remained one of the field’s most
elusive challenges. At Ansa, we are putting nature to work, creating novel enzymatic solutions
that will redefine how we build DNA. We believe that the biggest challenges our world faces will
be solved using biotechnology and that DNA synthesis is the fuel for that transformation. Our
enzyme-based approach (published in Nature Biotechnology) promises to dramatically accelerate
innovation in biological research and biotechnology, including therapeutics, diagnostics,
biomanufacturing, and synthetic biology.

Job Description

Ansa is seeking a strategically minded, operationally rigorous Director of Supply Chain to
partner with the COO develop our supply chain organization to the next level. As we move from
early commercial traction into industrial-scale operations, the reliability, cost-efficiency, and
scalability of our supply chain will be an important driver of our success.
This leader will be responsible for the architecture and execution of an end-to-end supply chain
strategy encompassing strategic sourcing, procurement, materials management, and logistics.
The ideal candidate combines a deep understanding of the unique requirements of biotech
reagents with the ability to implement disciplined systems and processes in a high-growth
environment.
This is an on-site leadership role based in Emeryville, CA. If you are energized by the challenge
of building a resilient supply chain for revolutionary technology and are stoked to help us ship
DNA to world-changing biotech companies, we want to hear from you!

-Design and execute an end-to-end supply chain strategy that supports Ansa’s transition
from R&D to high-volume commercial manufacturing.
-Establish and lead the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process to align
commercial demand with manufacturing capacity and material availability.
-Build and mentor a lean, high-performing supply chain and procurement team.
2. Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management:
-Develop sourcing strategies for critical raw materials, including custom and specialized
reagents, ensuring security of supply and cost-efficiency.
-Manage relationships with key external partners and lead contract negotiations.
-Implement a comprehensive supplier risk management program to identify and mitigate
bottlenecks and risks.
3. Materials Management & ERP Excellence:
-Oversee all warehouse operations, inventory control, and materials planning to ensure
100% availability for production.
-Lead the optimization of ERP/MRP modules to ensure seamless data flow and inventory
accuracy.
-Establish disciplined cycle counting, shelf-life management (FEFO), and inventory
optimization strategies to minimize waste and maximize working capital.
4. Global Logistics & Supply Chain:
-Partner with logistics providers to optimize shipping lanes, manage customs/duties for
international shipments, and ensure industry-leading delivery times.
-Monitor and report on logistics KPIs, including on-time delivery (OTD) and shipping
cost per unit.
5. Quality, Compliance & COGS Reduction:
-Partner with Quality leadership to ensure all suppliers meet requirements and
specifications.
-Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce COGS through strategic volume-
based pricing, logistics optimization, and material substitution in partnership with R&D
and operations.
-Manage the Supply Chain P&L, providing regular updates on spend, variances, and cost-
savings initiatives to the executive team.

Qualifications

-Education: BS/MS in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a Life
Sciences field. (MBA or CSCP/CPIM certification is a plus).
-Experience: 8+ years of experience in supply chain or technical operations within the
biotech, pharma, or life sciences tools industry.

up or lead a significant scale-up during a commercial launch.
-Leadership: Strong executive presence with the ability to influence cross-functional
stakeholders (Finance, Manufacturing, R&D) and negotiate complex contracts.

biological products.
