Role Summary
This Director of Technical Sales role within UAS & UAM business combines customer-facing capture leadership with deep technical sales acumen. The Director will drive pursuits with OEMs lead proposal and SEA approvals, shape requirements with chief engineers, and represent our solutions across autonomy, avionics, navigation, actuation, power and integrated systems.

Primary Location: Phoenix, AZ (on-site), with flexibility for limited travel as business requires.
Travel: Up to 25–50% (domestic & international)
ResponsibilitiesKey ResponsibilitiesTechnical Sales & Capture Leadership- Collaborate with UAM/UAS OE Sales ; lead cross-functional proposal development (technical volumes, compliance matrices) to win new business.
- Schedule and lead internal Opportunity Reviews and SEA approvals to ensure on-time RFI/RFP submissions.
- Work with chief engineers to develop winning system architectures based on customer requirements; coordinate engineering across disciplines/GBEs.
- Develop persuasive product value propositions for VTOL/OEM customers and present convincing technical sales briefings to external stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver technical training for internal and external audiences.
- Drive growth across UAS & UAM markets (commercial, dual-use, defense); identify and pursue platform opportunities.
- Own strategic accounts with OEMs; lead full capture lifecycle (requirements shaping, strategy, proposals, negotiations, contracting, relationship management).
- Lead sales of portfolio offerings (autonomy, avionics, control systems, navigation, sensing, power systems, actuation, thermal management, integrated platform solutions).
- Maintain disciplined pipeline processes, funnel management, account planning; deliver accurate forecasting and qualification.
- Support business reviews with pipeline health, forecast accuracy, pursuit gates, highlights and challenges.
- Partner closely with offering management, engineering, and program teams; integrate structured Voice of Customer insights to shape roadmaps and investments.
- Facilitate product VoC/technology reviews at OEMs; ensure product development roadmaps align to OEM long-term vehicle plans ahead of RFIs/RFPs.
- Ensure exceptional customer engagement through proactive communication and responsiveness; act as the business interface for program reviews and negotiations.
- Represent the organization at industry events, technical forums, associations, and regulatory discussions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in engineering or sales within commercial or defense aviation; proven success owning complex customer relationships and leading full capture cycles.
- In-depth knowledge across aerospace systems (autonomy, avionics, navigation, propulsion/actuation, mechanical/thermal, integrated systems).
- Demonstrated experience negotiating contracts, shaping account strategies, and driving major pursuits; ability to operate independently at senior customer levels.
- Ability to lead development of technical and commercial responses; drive price-to-win recommendations and competitive discriminators with product, engineering and finance.
- Ability to travel up to 25–50% and work on-site in Phoenix, AZ.
- Familiarity and passion for UAS/UAM ecosystems
- Prior involvement in aircraft development programs; strong understanding of systems integration and supplier selection dynamics.
- Working knowledge of aircraft systems and interfaces (avionics, propulsion, mechanical).
- Familiarity with FAA, EASA and other regulatory frameworks; repeated interactions with export control processes and compliance management.
- Strong analytical/strategic skills; ability to translate market/competitive insights into actionable plans.
- Executive presence; excellent communication across cultures; effective technical writing and proposal preparation.
